He got beat out from his position.
Incredible athlete, but I question whether he has what it takes to compete at a big program. His parents were also friends with Mo Smith's parents, and Mo Smith left Alabama for UGA after we blocked his transfer.
Maybe all Sheffield needs is a new start, but I have to wonder if he is one of those "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane" players.

Dont have any inside info but that sounds absolutely ridiculous. His contract is till February and he will forego a chance to win another National title? Ditch his team At the crux of the season? Even Lane is not that lame.

Pruitt didn't like Sheffield at all. He was puzzled what all the fuss was about him (why he was rated a 5*). This was mentioned before he left the team. Very good athlete, but like you mention competitiveness is a big question mark. And willingness/ability to learn was a question.
