Update on Browning: Summary is he may be delaying his decision now based on factors but as of now it's still on

Browning was expected to make a college announcement this coming Tuesday, but a couple of things that have transpired this weekend may — and this isn’t a guarantee but just some reading of tea leaves — cause him to delay that decision. Another of his longtime favorites, Texas, hired a new head coach and I’d be shocked if Browning didn’t at least give Tom Herman and the new Longhorns a visit. Beyond that, Alabama — which already had three linebackers committed before Sunday — added another just hours ago. Now, the Tide will never run out of room for a player the caliber of Browning. But when one program you’re considering has four players at your position and the other has only one, it’s worth considering. Choosing to go where there are less players isn’t being “afraid of competition” it’s being smart. As of right now, the decision is still planned for Tuesday, but don’t be surprised if something changes.

I love these site writers for specific programs. Do fans really believe a lot of their BS they put out there. Do OSU fans really believe Browning was not already told who we were recruiting besides him. I can bet our staff was truthful about how many more LBs we were taking and Browning is still trending towards UA after that. My guess is Allen had no affect on him and if you think about it we thought we were out of it for him but that all changed after Moses joined our class at the same exact projected position. But I bet OSU fans are jumping for joy with the Allen commitment.

Also I would be a little worried about that report as it makes the assumption that he may delay his announcement but nothing because of his visit to OSU. Did the visit not go as well as helping out OSU?

I have no idea. I am just reporting what OSU insiders say. I figured he was OSU's to lose until last week.
Bama may have said they were recruiting others, but Browning may not have known they were expecting this commit today. Who knows.
If OSU were to get Wilson instead of Browning I would happily take it (although of course i want both)

I understand and not trying to call you out and appreciate the info you bring from rival board. But I am sure Saban, Meyer, and a few others are up front when it comes to recruiting. What people need to remember though is two things this year for UA. We are continuing to start true freshman so Browning and every other recruit know we will put the best players on the field. Second we are losing 3 starting LBs as well as we had 2 transfer out. So by January UA will have at least 5 spots for LB open come spring on the roster.

Is Akial Byers gonna qualify? I watched some tape of his today I think he is underrated.

He's the number 1 player in Arkansas

Has a lot of work to do, but I sure hope so. He's very highly coveted.

Yeah underrated is a bit strong but I think he could come in and play day one at Alabama.

What are your people saying about Kiffin?

I admit that I am a little wary of Arkansas kids.

I've heard nothing about it other than TI saying that Bama's not worried in either case. Either Kiffin or Sark will likely be our OC next year. It's all good either way.
None of the other guys like Bama K, Redfish, or DrewD have chimed in yet.
Kiffin has already been here one year longer than expected when he came on. CNS already lined up an extremely capable replacement. Nothing to worry about either way. The machine will roll on.

If the Bama staff thought it might affect Brownings decsion couldnt they have asked Allen to give a silent commitment instead of a public one? Has happened before.

Looking at the U-TUB video of Moses and Allen at the Nola camp.
You can easily see Allen projects as a DE.
He and Parks look like Replacements for Deshawn Hand and possibly J.Allen.
Depending on how big Parks grows as for the J.Allen comparison.

I could definitely see Chris Allen wind up at DE in a couple years. Think Parks would be one right off the bat. Terrell Hall may be one next year as well, depending on how big he gets this offseason. I'd guess he is a starter at Jack LB next year, though.
When we take one or two guys more at a position than we think, expect to see other guys already on the roster or in the signing class move to another position.
For example, we signed so many flexible DBs last year that can play either CB or S, which allows us to just sign good DBs again this year and not have to worry as much about whether they're pure CBs or safeties (as long as they have cover skills). Flexibility in positions is very important, especially at recruiting for defense in the era of Spread offenses with mobile QBs.

Whose to say he wasn't already a silent, and made it public to offset the Orgeron announcement

Was told Parks, while a very good player, lacks the "Dawg" mentality........more of a project with upside if he can become more aggressive

I see Browning in a little different role, I see Allen a lot more apt to be a "plug-in" guy the way Hightower was, he has experience setting the edge as well as mainly playing upright, sniffing out plays and reacting, long armed and quick as well in coverage, I think he may well end up inside like Rueben this yr and Ragland last 2 years before.

Browning would be a true LB, Allen would be like Terrell Hall, a hybrid DE/LB
