Sucks for Averette if he doesn't start. I expect to see a lot of throws to his side but kid has done nothing to lose the job so far IMO.

Okay. I've heard CNS is very impressed with Ruggs. Very high character. Viewed as potential Ardarius Stewart 2.0 ability-wise. Saban loves him and his family. I know that this is no surprise as it's who has been mentioned all along as our likely WRs in this class, but I definitely expect Ruggs and Devonta Smith as our two other WR signees. But Ruggs had better not push it for too long, IMO.

The Georgia board says they are going to take 5 WRs too so Nico Collins is still in play for them.

According to the Texas 247 site, Texas is becoming a factor for Devonta Smith.

He apparently has a new Top 5 consisting of Alabama, Texas, TCU, Tennessee and Miami.

Expect his decision to drag out until NSD.

When you hear stuff like this and you KNOW the real truth........

To share a story, I had made an edit about Louisiana kids being recruited by Bama and had forgotten to include Mathis. One of the Bama coaches that follows me sent a DM and said, don't forget Mathis........so I added him and resent it.

Alabama 5-star commit says Lane Kiffin is on the hot seat

Alabama has started sluggishly against Ole Miss, and one of the Crimson Tide’s top recruits has taken notice.

Alex Leatherwood, a 5-star offensive tackle commit from Booker T. Washington High School (Pensacola, Fla.), took to Twitter to give his thoughts on Alabama’s game. Leatherwood tweeted that “Kiffin is on the hot seat.”

Some of Kiffin’s play calls have been questionable, such as the amount of wide receiver screens he called in the first quarter that were not working. Leatherwood showed that he agreed with SEC Country’s Alec Shirkey’s observation.

Leatherwood has been committed to Alabama for over a year and is one of the team’s most solid commitments. This is likely just a case of him being frustrated with Alabama’s performance.

Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban has seen several running backs earn starring roles during his remarkable run in Tuscaloosa, and Najee Harris could soon add his name to that list. The nation's top-rated recruit provided further evidence of his abilities Friday night throughout a 41-33 win over Rancho Cotate High School.

Harris tallied 261 yards and four touchdowns on just 17 rush attempts, according to Lori A. Carter of The Press Democrat, fueling the victory with 184 yards after halftime. His effort included scoring runs of 29, 33, 57 and 70 yards, and he has now accounted for 75 total touchdowns and 14 200-yard games since 2014.

Jalen Mayden forces defenses to account for a dynamic skill set and Copperas Cove High School simply wasn't up to the task this weekend. He shredded opposing game plans throughout a 48-16 win, finishing the contest with five total touchdowns, according to Brian Perroni of 247Sports.

His latest offensive explosion included four touchdown tosses—he compiled 360 passing yards on 17 completions—and a rushing score. Mayden, who broke out as a sophomore last season with 3,009 total yards and 36 touchdowns, is the younger brother of 2016 Alabama Crimson Tide cornerback signee Jared Mayden.

BREAKING: Alabama loses commitment from Aaron Sterling

Aaron Sterling was long rumored to eventually de-commit from Alabama, and on Sunday afternoon, he went ahead and reopened his recruitment, according to a family source close to Sterling.

Sterling had committed to Alabama on Christmas Day but was never firm with his decision on the Crimson Tide. He recently told SEC Country that South Carolina and Tennessee were recruiting him harder. He also was unsure if he was going to take an official visit to Alabama. The signs were all there that pointed to this eventually happening.

Even with him being rated a 3-star recruit, the staff really wanted Sterling to stick with his commitment. Outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi wanted Sterling to play the JACK position, which is a hybrid of weakside defensive end and outside linebacker while defensive line coach Karl Dunbar viewed him as a prospect who could play any position on the line.

The Tucker High School prospect told SEC Country that he was just starting to develop a good relationship with Dunbar.

“Our relationship is much better now,” Sterling said a few weeks ago. “He has a really good personality. He can joke around with you. He’s just a very cool coach.”

With the loss of Sterling, Alabama only has one defensive line commitment in 4-star defensive tackle Akial Byers. Other defensive line targets include 4-star prospects LaBryan Ray, Ryan Johnson, Elijah Conliffe, Aubrey Solomon and Phidarian Mathis, to name a few.

Sterling’s de-commitment comes on the heels of a visit to North Carolina State. Expect South Carolina and Tennessee to continue their pursuit of the former Alabama commit.

Just seems like the kid (Sterling) didn't really want to come to Alabama.

Good. If he'd just make the grades, he might well be a stud.

Alabama defeated Ole Miss on the road on Saturday avenging two straight losses in the series. As always, recruits weighed in with their reactions both to BamaOnLine and on Twitter. Take a look.

Markail Benton, 4-star LB, Phenix City (Ala.) Central -- Alabama commit

"Most people are talking about how many points we gave up, but in that game it's okay because a win is a win regardless of the score. Of course we would like to hold the team to a certain amount of points, but things happen. It's very rare for a team to score that much on Bama."

Justin Thomas, 3-star DE, Mobile (Ala.) St. Paul's Episcopal -- LSU commit

"I didn’t really watch the whole entire game but I would say its not about how you start its about how you finish. Alabama started out really slow from the part I saw."

Isaac Taylor-Stuart, 2018 4-star CB, San Diego (Calif.) St. Augustine --

"It was scary at first but they made a huge come back and got the win. They showed me why they're the number one team. It was a great and an impressive win."

Allan Walters, 2018 4-star QB, Hightstown (N.J.) The Peddie School --

"I heard it was a great comeback! So it's great they kept battling I heard the D came up big too."

VanDarius Cowan, 4-star LB, Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) -- Alabama commit

"A little adversity never stopped us. Great team win ... just goes to show how well Alabama's staff coaches them boys."

Kendall Randolph, 4-star OT, Madison (Ala.) Bob Jones -- Alabama commit

"I think they made a huge statement. Rough first half but bounced back the second half and got after it."

Nico Collins, 4-star WR, Pinson (Ala.) Clay-Chalkville --

"I thought it was a pretty good game ... they never gave up and they came back and got the win."

Todd Harris, 4-star S, Plaquemine (La.) --

"It was a total team effort. It shows how competitive those guys are to still have each other's back after being down at halftime."

Elijah Conliffe, 4-star DE, Hampton (Va.) --

"It was a really good game and it was a hard fought victory."

I am hearing 5-star running back Cam Akers visit to Ole Miss on Saturday could not have gone much better, other than the outcome of the game. Akers, I am told, made several comments that his presence in the Ole Miss offense could have made a difference in the outcome. It is positive that Cam is seeing things that way. I am also told he has developed very, very close relationships with Ole Miss commits Willie Gay and D.D. Bowie and some other Mississippi kids already on the roster. I am told it is an all-in effort on the part of those recruits, current Ole Miss players and the staff to get Cam to Oxford. The conversations between Cam and the Ole Miss coaches following the game, I am told, were "excellent," and about as good as Ole Miss could have hoped for. The biggest thing I think you can carry from this is that Cam sees and understands the difference he can make in Ole Miss' fortunes. I am told that excites him a little bit. There has been some stuff out there that he was a little concerned about the Rebels' running philosophy, and I believe that is true, but it looks like he has another perspective, as well.

Not sure why any feature back can look at that offense and think he would be used any different. It's year five and Freeze still doesn't know what a running game is.
