TE target commits to UCLA

Jimmy Jaggers, a 4-star tight end from Roseville, Calif., committed to UCLA on Thursday.

Jaggers visited Alabama in June and was one of the team’s targets at tight end. He was not a priority at the position but could have been a factor if other prospects decided to commit elsewhere.

As I said recently, the plan IS for Alabama to take two tight ends in the Class of 2017. The Tide recently picked up a commitment from 3-star Kedrick James. Alabama remains in the mix for 4-stars Josh Falo and Kemore Gamble and 3-star Major Tennison.

I don't know. I like Etienne a lot, but, man, I sure hope we don't take 3 RBs.

if we do with our other numbers' needs.

Wonder if this is why we are hearing the "blue shirt" talk, as a possibility to sign more than 28 this year......???

I've been hearing about it also. Here's an excerpt from an article explaining a blueshirt:

"Meanwhile, blueshirts represent the newest loophole for FBS programs to accumulate depth while not affecting their annual numbers. Like grayshirt recruits, blueshirts are counted toward the next season’s scholarship total.

There is one distinct difference, however. Unlike grayshirts, a blueshirt is able to enroll and participate in team events in the fall. This allows programs to get the best of both worlds: FBS schools can delay a scholarship for the following year, allowing them to over-sign beyond the 25-scholarship limit, and get the use of a prospect immediately rather than waiting until the following spring.

The use of a blueshirt was first popularized by New Mexico State, which would support its numbers by enrolling prospects right after the beginning of the fall semester and then place them on scholarship. Tennessee has also embraced the use of blueshirts under coach Butch Jones."

Must not receive an in home visit nor can they take an official visit to your school. So far, that's all I've seen you can't do.

Wonder if we've done it in the past, just didn't know about it because Saban keeps numbers private.

I have to say that Mack Wilson and Ben Davis look awfully good on the hoof. And Raekwon Davis... wow! John Henderson part II potentially.

Also, very encouraging from Rodney Orr about how smooth Irv Smith looks and how he's bigger than expected.

Was that at Zech Byrd? Considering he just committed to UF and would have been the second TE.

Passed a long time ago by Tennison and Gamble (who also is committed to Florida) as well as Falo.

Well another 2018 QB is off the board. Cameron Rising, a kid we offered this summer from California, committed to Oklahoma this morning.

I'm good. It's not like we're hurting for QB talent.

I hope we dont take 3 RBs neither just because I think ot may help turn Najee Harris away from enrolling here. Thats the last thing that we need

Don't think the number one player in the nation would be scared if we took 23 running backs. Especially if the third guy is somebody like Kenyon Drake was, a change of pace back

But I agree, we need to fill other needs before we take a third back

I don't even understand why some of you say this stuff. It is nonsense.

If he is smart he would pribably go elsewhere. It is one thing not to be afraid of competition and another when the team you're dedicating yourself to isn't return the favor.

This isn't the 60s, our coach isn't Bear Bryant and these kids aren't pokemon.

Downvote away.

Interesting. We were anything but out of it about a week or so ago. Several people who I trust (one of them is Rodney Orr.. and a handful of other people were implying it) said that they thought we were in the lead. Things change in a hurry in recruiting sometimes.
