From the UGA thread:

Rumor on Rivals is that we're slow playing Laguins because we like our chances with Mack Wilson.

E'rybody likes their chances with Mack Wilson.

I think Roach would be an interesting choice, as you said, he has experience playing and coaching the position.

You either go super experienced or up and coming, and the former tend to be guys who aren't worried about recruiting. There are some NFL vets that will probably look for a 1-2 year job after they are released from their staffs.

Speaking of former LBs, found out Darren Mustin is at Army as the assistant S&C coach.

I think that would be a great hire.

The #1 JUCO prospect in the country 4* DE Jonathan Kongbo just decommitted from Tennessee. He has already taken OV's to Auburn, Ole Miss and Tennessee and has 1 more set for Washington on the 15th. We offered somewhat recently IIRC. Demetric Warren also just CB'd him to Bama.

Come on man. You know the rules. If he's a 5-star on one site he's a 5-star on them all.

Jeffery Simmons quote:

quote:

"It is still Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Mississippi State in my top four. I don't have a leader out of that bunch but I would say Alabama and Ole Miss are coming after me the hardest," said Simmons. "With Alabama, it is just an honor to have a school like that recruit me. Growing up, everyone dreamed of a school like Alabama recruiting you and it means a lot to get that much attention."

Alabama defensive line coach Bo Davis paid Simmons two visits during the most recent contact period.

"Coach Davis is my guy there," said Simmons. "We have a great relationship. I am close with him just like I am Coach (David) Turner (Mississippi State) and Coach (Chris) Kiffin (Ole Miss). Coach Davis is telling me I can play Jack linebacker if I wanted to just because of my athleticism or I can play with my hand in the dirt. It is really up to me and how I develop physically. Pretty much the other schools are saying the same thing.

Mecole Hardman confirmed, again, that Alabama is his sole leader.

Some interesting tidbits from Nigel Warrior:

- He confirmed he doesn't have a great "communication relationship" with Pruitt (whatever the frick that means).
- He said Saban is his primary recruiter so it doesn't have that big of an impact.
- Warrior stated that Mel Tucker had already left Alabama.
- He also said that whoever Alabama hires as a defensive backs coach will be the reason he looks at them, not the coordinator.

Is he telling us that Saban wants to hire a DB coach instead of a LB coach to replace Tucker?

Interdasting.

Hank South makes it sound more up in the air regarding Kongbo's official visit choice on the 15th.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Day two of practice for the East team Tuesday in preparation for Saturday’s U.S. Army All-American Bowl saw the offensive line bounce back and play well against a special defensive line group, while several prospects made a case for a fifth star.

A mismatch vs everybody.

Savanah (Ga.) Christian Prep five-star athlete Demetris Robertson was the most consistent playmaker during the 11-on-11 portion of practice, and is easily one of the top receiver prospects in the Lone Star State. Robertson was a tough cover, very quick with outstanding ball skills.

There wasn’t a defender inside the facility who could check Robertson who is still developing physically. It’s absolutely scary to think about the type of player he could be after one year in a college weight room because he has the build to be a rocked up 195-pound player down the road. He checked in here at 175 pounds.

The nation’s top-ranked athlete according to the 247Sports Composite, Robertson is still strongly considering Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame and Stanford among others.

2. Suwanee (Ga.) Peachtree Ridge Top50 safety Nigel Warrior was a factor on stretch runs by the running backs quickly meeting them on the edge, he can also cover and is definitely a guy that could play safety or cornerback on the next level. Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia are the top contenders.

Receivers/Tight Ends

• On day two Elberton (Ga.) Elbert County five-star Mecole Hardman Jr. flipped from the secondary to offense and made plays in the backfield and as a receiver. He has an extra gear. Georgia is the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite.

• The nation’s No. 1 tight end Isaac Nauta will be a factor as a run blocker wherever he chooses to go and after the catch in the open field he’s very tough to bring down. Announcing his decision Saturday, Georgia will be tough to beat.

• West Palm Beach (Fla.) Wellington Top247 receiver Ahmmon Richards was slowed by a hamstring but expects to be ready for the next practice on Thursday.
