Not to my knowledge. Strange to see him drop. I'd heard nothing negative about his from the camps. Like I mentioned, he showed better in coverage than was thought. That was the criticism of him previously. Who knows? The recruiting rankings are strange this year.

Which 2016 prospect has the most to prove in your region heading into the 2015 high school season and why? Wide receiver Nate Craig-Myers has the physical ability to be the No. 1 player in the country if he returns to form. His injury early in his junior year was a big setback obviously and there are times on film this past spring where he looked like his old self. However, at the two big all-star events this summer, he wasn't able to gain the separation he used to, at least not against the elite DBs, and at times he didn't look motivated. He needs to take it to the next level this season and remove any doubts about his recovery and show he's 100 percent. -- Mike Farrell, National recruiting director

Which prospect this year has a chance to pull the biggest surprise when it comes to a commitment or even a de-commitment?

Demetris Robertson, because he was an Alabama commitment and seemed like a lock to stay in the SEC even when he decommitted, but now he could end up at Stanford or Notre Dame. It's always great when kids re-evaluate their situations and shift priorities towards academics. He could still end up at Georgia or Georgia Tech or someplace local, but he could also surprise many and head west or to South Bend. -- Farrell

I still think Demetris Robertson could surprise a lot of people with his decision. There are many predictions out there that Robertson will end up at either Georgia or Alabama, but make no mistake, Stanford is a very real contender to land him. Ever since the Cardinal offered he's been clear about his admiration for the school and has made multiple trips on his own dime in an effort to give the school a genuine look. I think if he does choose Stanford the recruiting world will be surprised, but I'm not sure if I would be. -- Wommack

I thought he hasn't been to Stanford yet

I don't feel too good about Davis. He can make it to visits in Baton Rouge and Starkville, but not Tuscaloosa which is closer than either.

Growing up in Alabama, he has to be in a home that pulls for the Tide of the Tigers, right? Right. His home was cheering for the school that wears crimson. When that offer comes, it will be big. He has not true leader at this time. It is still early for the talented sophomore who gets off the ball, sets the edge, and plays until the whistle blows.

Early on, Thomas said, "I have high interest in North Carolina because of coach [Gene] Chizik and my connection with coach him. I also have high interest in Clemson.

"Out of the in-state schools, I grew up liking Alabama."
He wants to go to a school that offers a good education, a program that will help him get to the next level, and one of his big goals is to get inducted into the hall of fame.

The 6-foot-3, 193 pound sophomore signal caller out of Montgomery (Ala.) Sydney Lanier can throw and run. He calls himself a "dual-threat" quarterback.
Foster said, "I can throw it like Jeremy Johnson (Auburn) and I can run it like Deshaun Watson (Clemson)."

Mississippi State and North Carolina have offered Foster a scholarship. He is hearing from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, and Kentucky. UNC is on top.

"They (North Carolina) took a shot on me. They are the first school to really believe in me."

Clemson is another school he visited and he "liked it a lot". Growing up, Foster, and his family cheered for Alabama, and the talented sophomore is heading to Tuscaloosa Saturday to see the Tide scrimmage.

Former UGA commit B.J. Emmons finally opened up some about his recruitment this weekend. Emmons pledged to Alabama last month after de-committing from UGA in June. He’s a 4-star running back from Morganton, N.C.

“Alabama is the truth man,” Emmons told John Garcia, Jr. of Scout.com.

“Who wouldn’t want to go to Alabama?”

Emmons said he de-committed from UGA because he felt like rushed the process and wanted to explore new options after improving his grades.

The 5-foot-10, 232-pounder seems like he hasn’t regretted his decision to commit to Alabama at all. After the de-commitment of Emmons, UGA was left with no running back commitments in this year’s recruiting class, but that could change come Sept. 4 when Elijah Holyfield announces his commitment.

David Marshall, a 3-star defensive end, announced his official visits on Saturday via Twitter. The 6-foot-2, 256-pounder will take visits this fall to Auburn, Ole Miss, Alabama, Miami and Clemson.

“They’re all important to me,” Marshall told the AJC. “Those are the schools I’m looking forward to going to and playing for.”

Marshall, who de-committed from Auburn in July, reaffirmed to the AJC that Ole Miss remains his leader. The other four programs are ranked in no particular order, though he admits he does speak with Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp every day.

Texas, Texas A&M, and LSU have long been considered top contenders for Jones. Alabama is another school that has pursued Jones for some time. With Oregon and Baylor also in the mix, it will be interesting to see which of the five programs get official visits from Jones this fall.

Jones is primed for a big senior season after missing about half of his junior year with a knee injury. In an abbreviated 2014 season, Jones finished with 30 tackles and two forced fumbles in only five games. Jones' sophomore season in 2013 was his true breakout campaign. He recorded 95 tackles and five interceptions to earn Scout's Midlands Region Co-Sophomore Of the Year honors.

Jones possesses the size and skill set to play either safety position at the next level. He's also capable of playing a nickel role and could contribute immediately on special teams wherever he goes. Jones has great speed and ball skills on top of being a powerful and fearless hitter at the back end of the defense.

I know February, wait. Is it just me or is there not as much buzz about the 2016 class, seems like in years past Bama was way ahead, this year seems kinda meh. Maybe I'm just not as in to it but it sure feels like it is a blue collar type of class.

Who are the big names that Bama will get or leads for that can push this class to the top?

The 2 5* AL Lbs will help. Who else?

Does Bama finish outside the top 3-5? Am I just being overly pessimistic.

Were in good position for Terrel Hall, Jeffrey Simmons, Nigel Knott, Ben Davis and Mack Wilson. Bama probably wont finish with the top overall class unless there are a few surprises. Should be top 3 or 4 though.

We have good depth at every position on the field. I wouldn't expect us to get the no. 1 class for a couple of years. Scary depth at DL and OL

I would also throw in Greg Little and 1 of R Gary, D Lawrence, and R Lawrence.

Josh Newburg: On Nigel Knott

That was quick... I just exchanged texts with a good source close to the situation. The resulting conversation lead me to quickly change my Crystal Ball from FSU to Alabama.

The CB for FSU was done back in June. FSU was sitting in the driver seat after the three day visit. Knott was planning on announcing two weeks later at The Opening, but that got pushed back and so did FSU's chances.

I feel confident about my Bama prediction. We'll have to see what transpires over the next 4 weeks.
