Shades Valley DT Daron Payne tweeted this was his official visit weekend. He committed to Alabama over Auburn and Mississippi State at the Under Armour All-American Game.

Hoover DE Christian Bell, a longtime commit, is also visiting.

Class 4A Lineman of the Year and Dadeville standout Anfernee Jennings is visiting and appears solid.
Memphis linebacker Joshua McMillon is visiting.
Lawrenceville, Ga., linebacker Adonis Thomas is visiting.

Nashville defensive back Rico McGraw is slated to visit, though Georgia is making a strong push. McGraw was once committed to Georgia before flipping to Alabama.

Lawrence Cager, a 6-foot-5 receiver from Towson, Md., committed to Miami at the Army All-American Game, but will visit Alabama this weekend and Miami next. Auburn and Lance Thompson offered him Wednesday night.
Arkansas commitment K.J. Hill, a receiver from North Little Rock, Ark., is visiting Alabama.
Daylon Charlot, a former longtime Alabama commit from Patterson, La., who recently decommitted, will be in Tuscaloosa. Alabama is battling LSU here, though Miami is also in the picture.
Princeton, N.C., running back Johnny Frasier is visiting. Frasier is a Florida State commit, but North Carolina State and Duke are also in the picture.
Buffalo, N.Y., tight end/defensive end Tyrone Wheatley Jr., the son of former Michigan and NFL running back Tyrone Wheatley, is visiting. His coach shared more this morning.
Washington, D.C., offensive lineman Quarvez Boulware tweeted about his visit. He's a 4-star recruit also considering Maryland, Florida and Wake Forest.
Greenbelt, Md., offensive tackle Isaiah Prince is making an official visit. He unofficially visited over the summer. Ohio State and Maryland are still in the mix.

Sheffield expected to sign letter of intent with Tide

Incoming freshman Kendall Sheffield, of Missouri City, Texas, and three other cornerbacks are expected to sign letters of intent with Alabama on the first day of the signing period, Feb. 4.
Sheffield, of Marshall High, is a marquee five-star athlete who could immediately impact not only the secondary but punt and kickoff return teams.
“Kendall is a very gifted athlete,” Marshall coach James Williams said. “He’s a legit low 4.4-second 40 kid and very explosive.”
Sheffield, at 6 feet, 181 pounds, is rated the No. 3 cornerback in the country and No. 3 overall prospect in Texas, according to 247 Sports.
He was a Texas state champion in the 110 meters and 300-meter hurdles last spring, and his time was fastest among all the divisions. Sheffield was also the state track athlete of the year last season.
His plan is to also run track at Alabama. Current Alabama cornerback Tony Brown also runs track.
“Kendall is an exceptional football player,” Williams said. “He should be able to step in right away and do what’s needed.”

Cowart and CeCe trending to the bad guys per Shannon Terry.

Meh, 10 posts above yours someone stated BOL said Bama was trending. Pretty much shows that nobody has a clue. I've learned the less I follow recruiting the happier I am

I'll be happy if we keep the top tier of our class together and sign CVO.

Although I said last year that we were setting up for a boring NSD. I was wrong.

this is the guy i want if his grades are good enough. hes raw now, but we have cam for 2 more seasons, and this guy is an athletic freak at the LT position. redshirt a season, play a season as cams backup, slot right into the LT spot as a rs sophomore, play for 2 seasons, nfl. if not him, would like prince (richmond seems like a RT, and we already have a monster in Womack committed)

Drew D. TIFWIW:

quote:

The dead period is now over and the race to National Signing Day on February 4th resumes starting today as the first major Crimson Tide recruiting weekend is upon us. It will likely be the biggest out of the remaining three before pen is put to paper on the first Wednesday in February. Six key commitments are slated to visit led by recent pledge Daron Payne of Shades Valley High School, who is one of the nation’s best interior defensive lineman. Six other key targets, one in wide receiver Daylon Charlot who was previously committed to the Crimson Tide since last February 1st until de-committing this past December following an official visit to in-state LSU, will also trek to the Capstone. It will be the first trip to Tuscaloosa for Charlot since his mid-August visit during fall camp 2014.

The other main storylines to watch will be Rico McGraw, the defensive back who was named the Defensive Player of the Year in the state of Tennessee. He committed last January 16th to Georgia following former UA assistant Jeremy Pruitt leaving FSU to take the DC job at UGA. Then, following much speculation, flipped to Alabama on July 31st. Since that time Pruitt has continued to pursue the elite defensive back and the in-state Vols have also continued to recruit him aggressively. This weekend will be huge for Nick Saban and Kirby Smart to lock he and his mother in to UA with possible visits to both looming the next two weeks before signing day, especially since his lead recruiter Kevin Steele, who had forged a great relationship with McGraw, has moved to LSU as DC.

Two wide receivers will be watched as Lawrence Cager of Towson, Maryland, takes an official after nearly committing to Alabama at the Army All-American Bowl on January 3rd. Cager was told he did not have a spot in the class at that time and pledged to the Miami Hurricanes, who have made a late charge in his recruitment. Will his fourth trip to Tuscaloosa change things with his parents in tow? We will see. K.J. Hill, the wide receiver from North Little Rock High School in Arkansas, has been committed to the in-state Razorbacks since late August, but will the Tide staff push for him this weekend with limits spots (2-3) available?

Tyrone Wheatley Jr, whose father, Tyrone, Sr., recently left the Buffalo Bills to return to his alma mater the Michigan Wolverines to work for nwe coach Jim Harbaugh, will make his first trek to Tuscaloosa. Before being hired by the Maize and Blue, most thought Wheatley Jr. would pick among his perceived top four of USC, UCLA, Oregon and Alabama. Will this recent move by his father lock him into Michigan? This weekend visit will be very interesting as the 6-6 260-pounder could be the in-line TE in this class that could compliment commit Hale Hentges, who will visit next weekend and could project at H-Back.

Lastly, the visit of Greenbelt, Maryland, offensive tackle Isaiah Prince is very important to the Tide class as OL coach Mario Cristobal wants to add a true left tackle to polish off another elite group of offensive linemen. A true heir apparent to rising sophomore Cameron Robinson is needed and Cristobal is very high on Prince, who will be visiting the Capstone for the first time since this past summer. The 6-6 280-pounder, whose other top schools are in-state Maryland (been a frequent visitor) and the national champion Ohio State Buckeyes (official visit next weekend), will likely receive the red carpet treatment with other top OT target, Ole Miss commitment Drew Richmond, canceling his official this weekend. The reasoning given has been due to “a death in the family.” But pressure not to visit from the Rebels coaching staff also likely played a huge role in not making the trip. It is not known for sure at this time if the visit will be re-scheduled. The guess is Richmond is now solid with Ole Miss and ends up in Oxford on Signing Day.

Next Bama QB:

Jake Coker, redshirt senior – Coker will be the de facto No. 1 heading into spring, but that doesn’t necessarily make him the favorite. Can he take the next step in his development? This is his last chance to do so.

Alec Morris, redshirt junior – What will make him stand out from the pack, like Coker, is his arm strength. The 6’3”, 230-pound quarterback was described as a “gunslinger” by Nick Perry in spring practice. He also was the quarterback wearing the headset on the sidelines, helping offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin signal in plays to the on-field quarterbacks.

Cooper Bateman, redshirt sophomore – If there’s a quarterback currently on the roster with the right mix of youth, experience and physical tools, it’s Bateman.

David Cornwell, redshirt freshman – A year ago, Cornwell was Alabama’s hot-shot, young-gun quarterback coming in as a true freshman.

Blake Barnett, true freshman – Barnett may be the wild card in this whole ordeal. He and Coker are the only quarterbacks in the mix recruited by Kiffin and seems tailor-made for his offense.

Nee still thinks UF for Cowart. Newberg thinks FSU for Cowart. Pretty typical of them.

I was talking with a USC friend and he told me Spurrier was trying to get B Lawing back on their staff but that Saban has reached out to him. Again no link to it whatsoever but curious if anyone has heard this.

Heard similar, was Saban's DL coach for a year at MSU and inquired about the DL when Bo Davis left.

USCe fans are upset they still have Deke Adams as their DL coach and Lawing is unemployed.

Montrell Custis appears to be solid even though he will visit Florida and Kentucky.

Unless something crazy happens, it will be around 820 pages. Too many early commits this year followed by almost no commitments for 2016.

Unless they can guarantee a major upgrade, I'm cool with Custis in the class. Depending on how things work out, I could seem him being moved to slot if not DB.

Christion Jones didn't hear an peep about offense from Bama, despite being smaller than a Saban CB, but was moved there in less than a week.

I like Cager, but I'd rather it be a spot open than a spot made...

This. No matter how long I've followed Alabama recruiting, it still makes me uneasy that we have to show some guys the door. Why did we flip him from UK in the first place? Why did we accept Moton's commitment?
