I love this thread from our rivals after every season, it reeks of desperation.
2014, just another SEC Title, 12 win season and birth in the playoffs with another number 1 class about to be signed in a couple of weeks. Yep, we are screwed.

What recent developments? I swear I've never seen people act like a SEC title is reason for pessimism. Meanwhile 8-5 Auburn and LSU are the winners here. Jesus.

Unfortunately he probably barely remembers Courtney Upshaw at Alabama
Upshaw has been our only hope for this Jack linebacker role that everybody used to rave over. Honestly, I haven't seen much out our defense the past few seasons, sans Upshaw, that would be a beneficial recruiting pitch for that sole position.
This past season gave some hope to the pass rush with Dickson/Anderson(at times). I personally want to see Evans and Williams get more PT at that spot or simply edge rushing. I was impressed with what little I saw from them.

After thorough study using specific scoring criteria, Bleacher Report recruiting analysts Sanjay Kirpalani and Tyler Donohue have graded the top 200 players in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and provided in-depth analysis. As national signing day draws near, Bleacher Report provides a position-by-position breakdown of the best college football recruits. Today, we present the Top Interior Lineman.

They may not be the most flashy players on the field, but offensive linemen keep things moving forward. The men in the middle can make or break an attack based on their play in the trenches.
We broke down each guard and center who appears among the top 200 prospects in 247Sports' composite rankings, organized in order of their rating. Our Bleacher Report college football recruiting analysts also chimed in with scores of their own, grading on a 100-point scale for strength, explosion, pass protection and run blocking based on film study.

5. 4-star Richie Petitbon
Height/Weight: 6'4"/301 pounds
High School: Gonzaga College High School; Washington, D.C.
247Sports Ranking: No. 5 guard; No. 59 overall
Bleacher Report Score: 85/100
Committed to Alabama on April 4, 2014
Richie Petitbon picked the Crimson Tide after several campus visits to other colleges. He journeyed to an array of universities throughout his junior year, including Virginia Tech, Penn State, Boston College and Maryland, where his father played college football.
Bleacher Report Analysis
Set to become a third-generation Division I football player, Petitbon possesses in-game intelligence and uses it to exploit opponents. He displays excellent anticipation in various settings, an attribute that really stood out at The Opening when Petitbon was asked to pass-protect in one-on-one situations
He doesn't waste steps and moves downfield with a purpose while spearheading the rushing attack. I worry about his ability to initially counter top-tier SEC defensive linemen in short-yardage situations due to a level of strength (16/20) that's still developing.

3. 4-star Lester Cotton
Height/Weight: 6'4"/325 pounds
High School: Central High School; Tuscaloosa, Alabama
247Sports Ranking: No. 3 guard; No. 51 overall
Bleacher Report Score: 95/100
Committed to Alabama on Feb. 1, 2014
Lester Cotton committed to Alabama as a junior and has remained a steadfast member of Roll Tide Nation ever since. Due to proximity, he's likely visited campus more than any member of the current Crimson Tide class. Prior to pledging, he fielded offers from the likes of USC, Auburn and Ole Miss.
Bleacher Report Analysis
No one graded higher in terms of "strength" than Cotton during our evaluation. He earned 20/20 in that facet, and it carries over into run blocking, as he bludgeons opponents with brute force and directs the flow of traffic in the trenches.
Aside from overbearing physicality, Cotton carries himself well in pass protection. He maintains excellent balance and keeps foes off-kilter by dishing out a devastating punch at the onset. Cotton could command early collegiate reps, regardless of the deep roster at Alabama.

What's the deal with Cowart? I know we're outside looking in, but I saw a post from BOL that said we're trending.

Rather him go to FSU than Auburn

yeah, if AUB doesn't close this recruiting season very strong and add some pass rushers, they will really be hurting going forward.
I'm not sure if there is anybody in their class that we would want to fill our remaining spots.

Seeing as how we have almost no chance in hell of landing him, it's kind of fun to sit back and watch what antics he plays next.

Funny how 12-2 is decline but 8-5 is optimistic

Cowart and CeCe trending to the bad guys per Shannon Terry.

Here's a post I made on tDecline in the Kendall Sheffield commitment thread:
From a rational perspective, LSU really has declined these past few years. Just look at their record, and each year they are trending downward. Will they lose five games in the regular season next year?
quote:
A decline is a steady downward slope. By definition, then, if Bama was declining our record should be worse than it was last year. That is simple math. Which record is better? 11-2 or 12-2. Winning tSECCG or not playing for tSECCG?
On the other hand, I'll give you a steady downward slope.
-SEC Champs. Plays for BCSCG, loses.
-Two losses in regular season. Loses Chicken Bowl.
-Three losses in regular season. Wins Outback Bowl with a putrid performance by a qb
-Four losses in regular season. Loses Music Shitty Bowl
That team has gone from being a contender in November (2011 and 2012) to not having a real shot at doing anything without everyone losing (2013 and 2014)

Alabama was supposed to host Memphis OL Drew Richmond, a 4-star committed to Ole Miss, but he told John Garcia of Scout.com/BamaMag that he wouldn't make the trip. 5-star commit Kendall Sheffield was going to visit, but Andrew Bone of TideSports in the Rivals network reported he'll come on the weekend of the 23rd.
