Their WR corp will be one of the worst in the sec next year and Johnson is a pure pocket passer.

He's no Marshall but he's a good athlete. I watched him run and pass all over the Reuben Foster and Raashan Evans led AHS defense in high school. I'm not saying there won't be a drop off on offense. If there is I think it'll be due more to OL and WR than QB.

Think about it. Their team will not be as good as it was this year and they went 8-4. Arkansas improves, LSU improves, aTm improves, Miss st stays the same, Ole Miss goes down, UGA improves and most importantly we become elite again.

They might have a "down year" but they sure as hell aren't losing every West game.

Would it really be that embarrassing? The west is fricking loaded. They should have lost all their SEC games this year except LSU and Arkansas. SCAR, UGA, Alabama, aTm, Ole Miss, and state.

Jeremy Johnson is better than Marshall IMO.

Not for their offense. What made their offense click was the ability for a QB to run and to extend plays to complete on the run passes. Johnson is a pocket passer. They will change their offense completely and lose all 4 starting receivers. Williams, Coates, Bray, and Louis.

Johnson rushed for 700 yards his senior year in hs. Not really a pocket passer.

Who gives a frick what he did in HS? I played college ball at UAB and I led the state in interceptions my senior year in HS. Didn't exactly produce the same in college even though I played at a lesser school. Doesn't mean shite unless you have proven it on the next level.

He rushed for a grand total of -7 yards this past season.

Plus they have a different offense in place when he's in the game. Go watch when he played this year

I don't need to see Johnson's rushing stats in limited to time to know that he is a threat to run. Is he Marshall good? No.

What part about they aren't going to run the same system do y'all not get? Let the fricker run when we stack the box because he doesn't have anyone worth a shite to get open. He's basically an anorexic slower Dak Prescott

I think Jovon robinson is legit

Fwiw, Bama quit recruiting him this year not because he was solid to AU, but because he sucked. His stats are VERY similar to Desherius Flowers this past season. No one thinks Flowers will carry us next season.

Played 9 games
811 yds rushing

Interesting. Didn't know his stats were that bad. Still think he will be good for them...

In other news. Jonathan Taylor. Former UGA NT that got kicked off their team is visiting us this weekend...

Those are good stats considering it looks like he got 5 or less touches in a few games

I'd take Javon in a heartbeat.

Also, Melvin Ray is a very good wr and will play well for AU. They'll have a very good team next year

Yeah I am not sure why their fans think it bothers us. They seem to try so hard to convince everyone it will make them the best team in the country. Maybe he will be a good hire for them and should help improve their D. All I know is Saban is 3-1 against his defenses. The only time Saban could not do much against his D was in 2007 when we finished 7-6 and did not do much against anyone. But beat his D in the NC game when he was at Texas, got almost 400yds IIRC correctly in his 1st year at UF when CUM handed him a loaded D, and this year we set a school record I think and they had great talent.

Watched Johnson for three years in HS. He is not a dual threat QB. His ability to run th ball is limited as he is not that fast. He is way more a pocket passer than a runner. That's why the Gus Bus will have to go back to his Tulsa days and Chris Todd days at the Barn. Johnson has gotten better as a passer as he used to throw off his back leg and telegraph his pass with his long delivery. His mechanics are better but I don't see him being overly successful either.

The Lawrence Cager CBs are all over the place.

Last two have been for Rutgers and Wake Forest.

Kerryon Johnson is the new #1 in Alabama. Payne dropped to #5. Anfernee Jennings got himself a Bama bump. He is now the #4 player in the state.

Keaton Anderson is the lowest ranked Bama commit at #29 in Alabama.

He and Christian Bell are both very underrated in-state players this yr

As for AU, friend of mine is saying Lashlee and Gus are desperately trying to talk both Duke and Sammie into staying which is odd considering both have the potential to be pretty high draft picks, like top 3 rounds. Jeremy Johnson is primarily a pocket passer and a good bit more accurate than Marshall, he has the threat to run but it's more like if you remember Josh Freeman for Tampa who was a haus but would still get in space and barrell down from time to time. Jovon Robinson could very well become a FB for them, no joke, there's already talk about a switch for him.

Boom improves their D right away just from a scheme change standpoint but it will take at least 2 years to recruit and get the talent Will needs in the secondary (all his greatest D's he has built at AU, Texas and UF have had NFL caliber talent on the back end) to be successful because the talent isn't there right now on the Plains other than a pretty good DL. It was a good hire no doubt, but as mentioned previously the run Bama is currently on and with many SEC West teams getting better, if a huge number of players leave AU early, next year they will struggle.

On CeCe

This thread is starting to "roll" again (pun intended)

We put up more yards of offense on Muschamp's Florida defense than we did Johnson's Auburn defense. And he had better players to work with in Gainesville.

But the Auburn fans don't see it that way.
