Recruiting Nugget recap (summarized by our good friend Apeduece):
quote:
- Damien Harris had a great visit. Alabama is really surging and may have taken a small lead in his recruitment. Blake Barnett has been a major contributor here and look for Saban to try and close the deal with an in-home visit later this month.
- Drew Richmond snuck in for a visit instead of attending the Egg Bowl. Alabama is still a factor here as Richmond is intrigued by competing for championships. It could come down to a decision of staying closer to home or competing at the highest level... stay tuned.
- Kendell Sheffield and his family had a good visit. They got a closer look at the overall football, academic and track programs and he sees an opportunity for early PT. The OV will be rescheduled since the Tide will be in Atlanta this weekend. Everything is still up in the air as far as his eventual decision, especially with A&M's D Coordinator being fired.
- Auburn is still pushing hard for Daron Payne, but the Iron Bowl has helped Alabama with him. Rodney Garner had an in-home visit last week, so look for the Tide to followup with an in-home later this month. Daron plans to announce at the Under Armour Game in January.
- Minkah Fitzpatrick also had a great visit. He also feels like he could compete for PT early. I guess the recruits see something with our current corners, LOL. Anyway, things seem to be pretty solid with Minkah at this point. Nothing is really done until he faxes his LOI, but confidence is high that he is pretty much locked up.
- Hale Hentges pretty much raved so much about the visit that he doesn't plan on taking any more visits to other schools. The visit to Missouri before the Iron Bowl was more a sign of respect to the in-state program. After that Iron Bowl atmosphere, he's a done deal.
- Jonathan Ledbetter was also a surprise visitor, but he is signing with Georgia.
- Alabama is in a great spot with Adonis Thomas, but watch out if Will Muschamp ends up coaching at another SEC West School (Auburn or A&M).
- Alabama is also still in the mix with Matt Womack. Matt has been pretty quiet lately, but Alabama is still working him and may actually be trending at this point.
- 2016 LB Lyndell Wilson is high on Auburn's board, but he was pretty public about his affinity for Alabama during the Iron Bowl.

Seems to me the coaching staff is planning on Cager being Charlot's replacement. Last I read Charlot plans on announcing at the all american game. You can't announce during the game unless you're an uncommitted prospect. Pretty clear that he gone.

Lots and lots of smoke about Harris today on multiple fronts.

MCMILLON ON IRON BOWL, INJURY AND MORE
John Garcia Jr.
Recruiting Analyst
Alabama still holds the top 2015 class in America despite not adding a commitment to the fold since late August. That pledge was Josh McMillon’s and he returned to Tuscaloosa for an unofficial visit during the Iron Bowl despite a recent knee injury.
Joshua McMillon has been a busy man since publicly committing to Alabama just before the start of his senior football season at Memphis (Tenn.) Whitehaven High School. The four-star Scout middle linebacker projection, ranked No. 10 in America at his position, returned to Tuscaloosa for an unofficial visit with Auburn in town for the 204 Iron Bowl.
After suffering a serious knee injury in early November playoff action, McMillon used crutches to get around Bryant-Denny Stadium and beyond.
“It felt great, actually being at one of those games with my future teammates,” he said of the trip. “There were more commits than other places. It was a great atmosphere with them, Blake (Barnett), Daien Harris (uncommitted), Christian Bell, Mekhi Brown – we had a great time before and after the game.
“Seeing the game was just great. The second-half was the best part, seeing them come back the way they did. You saw Blake (Sims) throw three interceptions and say, ‘wow, how were we able to win?’ The defense was able to stop them from scoring, too…”
McMillon and one of the uncommitted prospects he spent time with while in Tuscaloosa, top-five running back Damien Harris, caught up in person for the first time since July.
“Me and Damien became good friends up at The Opening in Oregon,” he said. “We were on Team Apocalypse together. We had a great time, exchanged numbers and have been talking over time about recruiting. We’ll be glad if he does come.
“We might have a chance, we have a good chance. He’s getting a lot of in-home stuff from Kentucky and Ohio State is recruiting him pretty hard.”
McMillon during the championship game, which he and Harris won together, at Nike's 'The Opening' in July.
Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Michigan and others are still after the 6-foot-3, 239-pound Crimson Tide verbal commitment. While he’s seen plenty of other campuses during the process, even after selecting Alabama, the status remains the same.
“I’m pretty solid on Alabama, I still have a lot of thinking to do, and I have to take my official to Alabama,” he said. “The Alabama fans don’t have too much to worry about.“
Perhaps one reason McMillon seems more set on Tuscaloosa, is the response he received from its coaching staff once he was given the bad injury news last month.
“I did tear my ACL in the first round of the playoffs, it was a complete tear,” he said. “They scheduled the surgery a week after, it was on November 14. Rehab has gone pretty great; the healing process is ahead of course right now. I have great range of motion in my knee so I’m looking at a pretty fast recovery.
“Alabama was the first team to actually call. My recruiting Coach, Coach (Billy) Napier, asked me what happened and I told him…he said don’t worry about it. It wouldn’t affect anything about the recruiting process or my commitment.”
Napier's comments were echoed by Nick Saban on Saturday.
“Coach Saban said it has no effect on me having a scholarship to the University of Alabama,” McMillon said. “They have confidence in my rehab process and that I’ll come back at 100 percent. He said they have the trust in me to be one of the best linebackers at the University of Alabama. That makes me feel good about my choice on August 22 (video below). It was very comforting, with the injury I have and how big it is.”
A finalist for Tennessee’s Mr. Football award in helping lead Whitehaven deep into the postseason, McMillon says his next official visit will be his last. It is likely to be set for Alabama sometime in January.

Interesting that at first he groups Harris in with his future teammates comment and then backs off of it with the next "I think we have a chance" comment.

Josh Edwards from UK247 believes it's down to Kentucky and Alabama for Damien Harris. Harris is expected to visit them Dec. 12th.
Edwards believes that it ends up the same as the Elam recruitment with Harris opting to stay home.

I think Damien Harris is supposed to announce Dec. 12th. Will be interesting to see if he still announces that day.

From Auburn recruiting thread:
He's OVing to them next month. Damn I hate when we use our OVs so early.

5 star DE Byron Cowart, expected to go to Florida, just announced he is visiting Auburn next month...
January 16th.
Here are his quotes in an article he just did with
Auburn is "like fourth, if I had an order," Cowart said.
"If they get the right guy, they can move up,
"That would be crazy if they got Will Muschamp," Cowart said. "It would help them."
"Before, they didn't see me standing up," Cowart said. "They didn't see me as a hybrid type. With Muschamp there, maybe I could possibly be a standup.(DE/LB hybrid which is his preference) If they run the same defense as he did at Florida, I could play the "Buck" like Dante Fowler did."
"I could definitely see myself playing there," he said. "I just like how they have my major, which is journalism. The people are nice. It's not too big of a town. It's an all-around good school for me."

Are we done with Montel McBride? And besides DJ Jones are we recruiting any JUCO for 2015?
Posted on 12/1/14 at 9:39 pm to Recruitingjunkie
Montel McBride just enrolled at Iowa Western in October, had some personal stuff that he had to take care of before enrolling. Sitting out the year. Cristobal keeps in contact, and McBride definitely wants to be at Bama. Will be a Spring 2016 grad. Wish/hope he gets a look at NG, better chance to come back and make an impact than at OG IMO.

Is Isaiah Prince still in the picture with Bama? Haven't heard anything about him lately.

Seems like it's going down, it went from some talking like Womack and Prince to Womack or Prince(if that).

Ricky Town is out of the Rivals100 while Barnett is #10. Funny how recruiting works out. Looks like Kiffin's ability to fall up has rubbed off on our recruiting.

If we get Pass next season with Barnett this season....
Posted on 12/2/14 at 7:55 pm to KareemAbdul
I'd rather land Shea Patterson than Pass.
