The poster says Max velocity. That seems like some sort of acceleration stat (maybe?). It can't be top speed. Anybody got a better idea of what they're measuring?

What is crazy is that Drake is that low. And Cam Sims being that high, I thought he was "slow"

Alabama freshman defensive tackle Josh Frazier was considered one of the stronger members of Alabama's vaunted 2014 signing class. On Monday, Frazier, who hails from Springdale (Ark.) posted that he benched 500 pounds, an impressive total for an incoming freshman. Alabama released the number, height and weight for the 2014 summer enrollees, with Frazier being assigned no. 69 and measuring in at 6-foot-3, 335-pounds.

Frazier, who committed to the Tide over Arkansas, Auburn, Texas A&M, and others, finished as the no. 36 overall prospect in the 2014 Top247.

velocity is defined as the rate of change of position

Between rb's, db's, wr's, and lb's

Well, that changes often.

In a simplified way, the difference between speed and velocity is that speed is how fast an object is moving, whereas velocity includes a directional component along with how fast the object is going, at least from a physics standpoint.

So, it looks like the chart may actually be referring to the top speed of the skill/mid-skill players. But, I'm unsure.

Area LBs Mekhi Brown and Amonte Caban named to HS Butkus Award watch list

Two area football players -- linebackers Mekhi Brown (Carver) and Amonte Caban (Smiths Station) -- were named to the high school Butkus Award pre-season watch list.

The watch list is made up of 51 players from 49 schools across the country and highlights the top contenders for the honor of the nation's top linebacker. Only three others from Georgia and two others from Alabama were listed.

Brown has been committed to the University of Alabama for over a year, while Caban is still weighing his college options. He has offers from Mississippi State, Clemson, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, Cincinnati and Louisville, among others.

Semifinalists for the award will be named on Oct. 27, finalists on Nov. 24 and winners on or before Dec. 9. Players who do not appear on the pre-season watch list are still eligible to win the award.

Last year's high school Butkus Award winner was Raekwon McMillan out of Liberty County High (Ga.). He is now playing at Ohio State.
