Montrell Custis | Defensive Back | Lovejoy (Ga.) High
An Atlanta NFTC standout, Cusits makes his mark as a versatile defender, and Scout has evaluated him as such ever since. Once regarded as a three-star cornerback, he’s now ranked as a four-star safety on the network because of his length and ability to play each position effectively. Not so coincidentally, the Alabama coaching staff has asked about his ability to be a versatile defender at the next level, something common among several current Tide defenders.

Minkah Fitzpatrick | Cornerback | Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter’s Prep
Fitzpatrick shined as an underclassmen at the 2013 event.
Another prospect able to play multiple positions in the defensive secondary with great size and instincts, Fitzpatrick dominated as a cornerback at the New York/New Jersey event at the New York Jets facility this spring. His patience and route-recognition skill make it look easy at times, placing him in the running with fellow Garden State cornerback talent John Reid for MVP honors. Both prospects earned The Opening invites in the process, and it's the second-straight trip for Fitzpatrick.

quote:
Jonathan Ledbetter | Defensive Tackle | Tucker (Ga.) High
One of the biggest head-turners at the Atlanta event was Ledbetter, who has the ability to work both inside and out along the defensive line. Against a stacked offensive line group, the pledge shined with a good combination of quickness and power, beating several highly-ranked prospects in the process. There weren’t many questions when his invitation was handed out.

quote:
Richie Petitbon | Offensive Guard |Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga
In his first event after committing to Alabama, Petitbon took home D.C. MVP honors along the offensive line with a technical showcase. Feet, punch and placement are always mentioned with the four-star, who can play all along the offensive line during a camp or game situation.

quote:
Calvin Ridley | Athlete | Coconut Creek (Fla.) Monarch
Speaking of stacked events, any South Florida NFTC is sure to draw a crowd, and Ridley always seems to separate himself from other skill prospects at these type of events. Working out mainly as a wide receiver, in which he will play once in Tuscaloosa, his length and separation ability make for highlight-reel catches seemingly on routine. There won’t be many offensive talents with more expectations surrounding him in Oregon

quote:
Deionte Thompson | Safety | Orange (Tex.) West Orange-Stark
Another MVP on this list, Thompson showed that he could be ranked as highly as a cornerback as he is as a safety (No. 2 in America). He dominated 7-on-7 competition as a safety, but really turned heads from Scout evaluators for his work as a one-on-one defender on the outside, as a cornerback, helping stone some of the top wide receivers in the country with his length and ball skills. Thompson is the highest ranked Alabama commitment heading to Oregon, currently tabbed as the No. 32 overall prospect, nationally.

quote:
Dallas Warmack | Offensive Guard | Atlanta (Ga.) Mays
Off to a bit of a slow start at the Atlanta event, Warmack got better as the camp progressed to the point that he was a no-brainer selection for an Opening invitation at the conclusion of the event. He, too, has been quiet on the camp circuit ever since, so the showcase will be a good gauge of his progression since mid-March.

we may not get a guy who ends up int he top 10 this year, but this class is friggin loaded with potential all over the place. These kinds of deep talented classes are what let you sustain success long term. future is bright at bama

My current wildcard out of our committed prospects to make it to the top ten is Deionte Thompson. Really think he could make his case to be the #1 safety in the class with a strong showing at the Opening.

K.J. Costello (Santa Margarita, Calif.)
You can make a very strong argument that this is the signal caller with the most long term upside of anyone at the quarterback position here. Costello has size (6-5) and the arm talent. He threw the ball exceptionally well, especially during the first day and early second. Costello, like most everyone out there, got a little tired as the tournament dragged on. He threw with touch and velocity and showed he can change speeds. Best of all he threw with accuracy. You can certainly see why the offers are starting to pour in.

If we can't get Eason, Costello would be a nice consolation prize.

Shea Patterson (Shreveport, La./Calvary Baptist)
I feel cheated. I only got to watch this kid throw for about a game and a half. Patterson didn’t play on Saturday for The Bootleggers. It took me all of one series to see what all the chatter was about. Patterson is the real deal. In fact, I will go on record saying he reminds me of Aaron Murray at the same stage. He’s deadly accurate and throws his receivers open. I mean he knows exactly what spot or what shoulder to throw to. Patterson can spin the ball through the tight windows. I thought of all the passers I saw over the weekend that he had the most arm talent. But he’s 6-2ish. Still, I saw enough to become a believer.I see why Arizona offered him when he was a freshman. He committed to the Wildcats. Since, he has an impressive list of offers from teams all over the country. He's a four-star recruit and the No. 2 ranked signal caller in the 2016 class.
At this stage it doesn't look like we have a chance with Shea Patterson, but you never know. Same link as previous.

247Sports' Pete Roussel, head of coachingsearch.com, released his predictions for the first annual College Football Playoff, and he left Alabama out of the field all together.
Roussel predicts Clemson, Auburn, Florida State and UCLA to make the field, with Clemson beating Auburn for the national championship.
He ranks Alabama No. 7, behind Oregon and Michigan State.
Pfft. Clemson win anything meaningful?
Although could you imagine the shite storm on the rant if Auburn again gets beat in the NCG?

How in the holy hell will the ACC get 2 teams in and the SEC only get 1? And why is everyone riding UCLA's dick?
Posted on 6/29/14 at 10:11 pm to chattabama
God forbid Clemson win a national title. We would be forced to hire Dabo in a few years by the modern equivalent that got Dubose hired in 1997.

If we hire Dabo, I'd melt so hard. It would not be pretty.
Guy is a terrible coach who is a decent recruiter because he throws some cash at the recruits. Chad Kelly just left Clemson, so who the frick is going to quarterback that "championship winning" team?

we don't like the aubies and others saying we throw cash at recruits so why stoop to that chit. I don't want Dabo either.

Rusty on UGA247 site thinks Ledbetter will flip by August.
