That's true but if there aren't any decent guys left then what's the point?

The only guys left are Waller, Dormady and Sills.

Waller may commit to Oregon and Sills is still committed to USC.

We may not have a QB to go after sans Dormady.

We'll find someone. Ely wasn't really on the radar when he committed and that was in August

I just can't see a guy getting an offer that isn't on the radar right now.

Ely committing was 3 years ago.

QBs were generally committing early 3 years ago too. The thing is Ely may have been high on our staff's board for quite a while, but it was never picked up on by the recruiting sites. Same thing could be happening this year and we wouldn't know.

I think we'll invite several lower ranked QBs to throw at camp and the best one will get an offer if we strike out on all the ones we're currently connected to. If memory serves, that's pretty much how we wound up with Ely

Sunday saw Alabama add a commitment from one of the nation's top TE's in Hale Hentges. The TE spot is a point of emphasis for the Tide in the 2015 class with the staff wanting to add multiple prospects if possible. BOL caught up with two of the Tide's top remaining targets to get their thoughts on Hentges' pledge and if it has any impact on them.

Jackson Harris: "No (it doesn't have an impact). He is more of an H and myself being the Y. Different positions in my opinion."

Will Gragg: "It doesn't have any affect on me at all."

Harris will visit Bama June 5 and 6 and decide shortly thereafter. He holds a top three of UGA, Bama, and Vandy with the Bulldogs holding the Crystal Ball edge.

Hallandale (FL) linebacker Sh'mar Kilby-Lane, a US Army All-American, will be visiting LSU this weekend. The weekend after the four-star recruit will be at Alabama. Ohio State currently leads Florida State, LSU and Alabama in order for the nation's No. 8 outside linebacker. The Crystal Ball reads 95-percent for Ohio State and 5-percent for Florida State.

Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart is recruiting Godwin for the Tide and the blue-chip pass catcher says the two have formed a close bond.

"Me and him have a good relationship. It's like a father-son relationship. We stay in contact all the time. It's nice to know someone like that."

The top Georgia prospect committed to the Bulldogs in January. Since then, he's taken multiple visits to Alabama and Auburn. Where does he stand in his commitment to the Bulldogs?

"While I'm committed, I'm 100% committed to them for now."

The west Georgia athlete says his recruitment will extend all the way to February.

"It's going to go all the way down to National Signing Day. I'm not sure when (going to take officials). It's just going to be whenever I have free time."

I like how he's committed, but taking it all the way to signing day

I'm fine with taking a body at QB just for the sake of depth, but I'm hoping it's someone that clearly won't see the field so we can get Eason.

Ideally we don't take anyone. It benefits us to have the depth, but unless someone shocks everyone when they get onto the practice field, we'd just be wasting a year of their life.

Matt Hayes of the Sporting News released his preseason Top 25 on Tuesday, and while he has Alabama slotted in for the College Football Playoff, it's not as high as some Crimson Tide fans would like.

Hayes ranked Alabama No. 4 behind Oklahoma, Oregon and Florida State and just one spot ahead of in-state rival Auburn. He points to Alabama's questions at quarterback but says the Crimson Tide otherwise has the talent to win the SEC and make it into the CFP.

While it's still a top-4 prediction, Hayes' ranking of Alabama is the lowest we've seen so far.

I am putting all my eggs in the Quinten Doomsday Dormady basket.

I just hope he waits for the firm offer (I think he probably could commit to Okie St. now).

The spring camp and combine circuit is done and college coaches have done their legwork on the recruiting trail. With things moving into the summer, it's time to take a look at our post-spring position rankings in the state of Texas.

Kyler Murray and Jarrett Stidham were 1 and 2.

From the Oklahoma State guys on Dormady:

quote:

Each and every week, or as frequently as possible, we plan to take an inside look at several recruits that Oklahoma State is keeping a close eye on. Securing an all-important commitment, of course, is the goal for coach Mike Gundy and his coaching staff with the Cowboys.

In the future, think of this space as your proverbial one-stop shop for news and notes about the gridiron goings on for potential targets of Oklahoma State. So without further ado, it's time to reveal a list of who’s who and the chances the Cowboys have to land each individual.

Quinten Dormady, QB, Boerne (Tex.): The 6-foot-4 and 208-pound junior emerged on the radar despite the fact the Cowboys have already received a commitment from John Kolar. Apparently, now with an offer in place for Dormady, the Pokes are testing the waters with the country's No. 12 pro-style signal-caller in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

They already have a QB committed so maybe that will keep him from committing there long enough to come to our camp to earn an offer.

Hailing from North Carolina, Shy Tuttle is a 5-star defensive tackle who has the strength to dominate the trenches. The 6'3", 315-pounder displays a quick first step at the snap, plus he plays big at the point of attack.

He is capable of playing with solid leverage, and he has the short-area quickness to get to ball-carriers in pursuit. His top suitors right now are Alabama and North Carolina, per 247Sports.

BOL never reports anything on Tuttle, yet I keep seeing where we are in his top group.

Linebackers with the speed and athleticism to cover on passing downs have become more in demand. That is why 5-star prospect John Houston is a hot commodity.

Although he is only 211 pounds, the California native has the explosiveness and quickness to launch to ball-carriers all over the box. Houston, who is 6'3", also has no issues in dropping into coverage and running with tight ends and running backs down the field.

USC leads Alabama and UCLA, according to 247Sports.

I didn't know we were in Houston's top three either.
