I'd love to hear the whole interview because those two comments almost seem to contradict each other. On one hand Bama never led, and on the other Hand (pun intended :rimshot: ) Da'Shawn committing to us sounds like it pushed Carter to UGA.

Mr. Carter seems to have contradicted himself with those two statements. Kids these days...

Not really. He could have just been really considering 2 (or more places) and Hand committing just kind of closed the book on one of them. Doesn't necessarily mean one or the other was leading.

Say you're considering two potential dates to the prom. Before you can choose your favorite, someone else swoops in and asks one of them. It just makes your choice easier. That sort of thing

Heard this little nugget last night that we have 4 DL that did not play last year that are pretty dang good. Also the nugget said we had 2 pass rushing specialist that should be "special". I am paraphrasing of course.

Also said that they opened the playbook etc in the previous scrimmages so the coaches got to see and evaluate a lot more from those and did not need to open up things in the A day game. I got the impression that the over all mood was positive for this team.

Magilla said he doesn't plan to visit and wouldn't be surprised if he was committed to Penn State within the month.

Off the top of my head:

Dalvin Tomlinson
Tim Williams
Dee Liner
Dakota Ball????

Some of them played sparingly, but never a lot. Tomlinson got hurt, in his case.

And Tim Williams is technically a Linebacker, but still.

Pass rushing specialists? Makes me think, assuming we're talking about guys already on campus, of Tim Williams and DJ Pettway maybe? I wouldn't call Jon Allen a pass rush "specialist", as it implies he's more of a third down rush the passer type guy instead of an every down guy.

would much much rather have hand than carter

No doubt. While Carter has unbelievable upside, he didn't exactly set the world on fire his Senior season, especially in that game against Miami Central.

ETA: Bad use of gif.

From our brethren to the East:

-AU still feels good about Jovon
-A Day visit went well
-still wants to commit before his football season starts

I'm about ready to just concede defeat with Jovon. He clearly wants a lot more carries than he'd get here in one year.

Yeah, besides, we got three five star pass rushers anyway.

Leo Lewis' commitment to Alabama almost didn't happen on the Tide's A-Day earlier this month, the top ILB tells BOL.

"I was leaving- I was getting ready to leave Tuscaloosa. I was at the gas station and was just thinking. I thought about it an called Coach Saban and told him I wanted to see him again before I left.

"I went back and we sat down in his office and talked for a little while. I told him I wanted to commit and I committed right there on the spot. He was happy. He said it made his day. He kind of smiled."

Lewis says his commitment is 'pretty solid'. He's heard from Miss. State, Ole Miss, FSU, and Florida since his commitment and says he plans to take visits.

This makes me feel better:

quote:

A-Day was the Lewis' second visit to the Capstone and sealed the deal for the 6-foot-3, 225-pounder.

"The whole entire visit was pretty great. The first time I went (for junior day in January), I wanted to commit, but I didn’t, because my parents weren’t there. This time for A-Day, my mom got to come. She got to see everything and experience it head on, so once I knew she liked it, I just went ahead and pulled the trigger,” said Lewis.

Alabama will check on a top 2016 prospect who recently decommitted from Tennessee today. Tide assistant Kevin Steele is expected by Haywood HS in Brownsville, Tennessee to see DE Emmit Gooden, who decommitted from the Vols last night.

“After talking with my family and a few friends and coaches, they said I (committed) a little too early,” Gooden told govols247's Ryan Callahan.

Gooden originally committed to the Vols on February 15. He ranks as the no. 100 overall prospect, no. 5 strongside defensive end, and no. 1 rising junior in Tennessee according to 247Sports.

He may not commit to us, but I believe Zach Gentry is committing pretty soon.

Mississippi State still leads for Amonte Caban. I wish we would offer him.
