I was reading the UGA recruiting thread to get a handle on their top targets and who they felt good with. There's always overlap with who each program is pursuing.
A few observations:
1.) Didnt realize that Smitherman was announcing in the next few weeks. I guess he doesnt want to come back to camp and get a Bama offer

The coaches are assigned specific areas.
It doesn't matter what positional group they coach. Cristobal almost landed a 5-star DE and Napier landed a 5-star OT, 4-star Safety and 4-star WR.

We've already landed one 5-star and another fringe 5-star from Georgia in this class. They are going to be testy.
If it wasn't for Payne, Settle and Shuttle we'd be pushing hard for Thompson too.

On the kicker and scholly discussion...
placekickers coming out of high school, I understand not wanting to "risk" a scholly on after they have kicked off of a tee for however many years...
But punters - nothing changes for them. They should be evaluated directly.
I'm surprised juco placekickers don't earn schollies...they are more of a proven commomity.
The hardest part for a high school place kicker to adjust from going from a 2" tee to the ground is getting the ball up fast enough on a FG attempt. (trust me on this, from experience
)
But, correct me if I am wrong, did Griffin not kick with either no tee or a 1" tee in HS to get ready for the transformation to college?
