The defense is absolutely soft. Georgia's defense looks like the Alabama defenses from 2009 and 2011. They destroy people. Alabama has talent but it's lost that killer mentality and looks totally clueless. Saban needs to kick arse and take names this week. Last night was unacceptable. I don't want us turning into the next Oklahoma winning 63-48 every week.

Coaching is pathetic but I also think the talent level at Alabama has declined. I don’t think a single player on the current defense could have started on any team from 2008-2016

Golding is not our only defensive coach, and CNS is out there a practice every day, and he isnt coaching the offense. Saban has got to figure out how to get the calls made and in a way that the players understand what they are supposed to do. Golding doesnt coach every position, or every player, and we dont have any position on the defense that is a strength. We probably have 8 or 9 of the eleven players that are playing poorly.
But, part of it is that everything has changed. During the Florida game, one of the TV announcers said college football has become Arena League football. And, thats about what it looks like.

Agree. I said this in another post but the whole defensive staff and Saban are responsible . Golding isn’t coaching every position group daily and they all come up with a game plan each week and personnel decisions

Step into his shoes for a moment.

Options.

1. Fire Golding now and risk a huge turnover with someone new.

2. Light Goldings arse on fire with threats of being fired and it possibly ruining him.

3. Give guidance, plan to have him move on peacefully after the season and have the entire off season to set a new Def up.

There is no easy answer but there are logical answers.

To put this in layman's terms.

The defense sucks, Golding sucks...Saban knows both of these facts. But it is what it is until variables outside of football and putting a winning defense on the field allows the powers that be to make a change while protecting Goldings feelings.

Not that I think you are incorrect mind you.

Something is amiss. Golding is surrounded by defensive coordinator veterans not including Saban and the defense looks terrible. Not to mention Golding likely has the most defensive talent on a roster in all of college football.

Good point.

Maybe too many chefs in the kitchen...

That's what is so frustrating to me. The defense has talent. And it is healthy unlike last year. Ole Miss is just plain awful. Their defense is made up of scrubs. We have blue chip talent everywhere even if some of it is young.
