Absolutely. Imagine how DHenrys stats would've looked if he got plugged in at random times, and never got a chance to wear a defense down.

DH's yards per touch dropped with more carries and receptions...

Most of the time a back's yards per carry drop as he gets more carries, but it's possible it would've been better. I don't think anyone could average more than Harris did if they got Derrick Henry level attempts. That'd probably be the greatest rushing season of all time.

I think the game plan was normally let the other backs wear out the defense then bring in Bo to finish them off. I actually thought Lane did a pretty good job most of the season splitting up carries, but it's just a difference of opinion.

ETA: I do think we should've done less read option and more designed handoffs. Also, I thought Jalen misread the defensive end on the read option a fair amount and kept it when he shouldn't.

It's also interesting that Damien Harris had more ypc than Derrick Henry. That just goes to show how pointless of a statistic that can be.
If you watch the highlights, the reason Damien had such high numbers was because of the rpo runs, kinda like Tre Mason. He would get HUGE gaps to run through where anyone with two legs could pick up 10+ yards. It had more to do with scheme.

I don't want to disparage him, but if you just look at the highlight tapes, to me, it's hilarious to think that Bo was our 2nd string back. Every team in the country would kill to have a freak like Bo

To your point though, Bo is made for designed runs. Damien was perhaps better at the read option.

You're saying that Damien Harris got too many carries while at the same time saying the only reason his ypc was good is because they only used him in good situations for him. That doesn't make sense.

Why the hell didn't Bo, Jacobs, or Emmons get that many yards on those plays then? If Damien gets more yards running read option than Bo gets running a dive play, then what part about the dive play is better?

I'm fine with you arguing that Bo should start and get the most carries, but saying that Bo should've gotten 80% of the carries and Harris should've never played is ridiculous. Last year's team put up 3675 yards rushing, by far the most of any Saban team, on 5.8 ypc. In Henry's Heisman year, we only put up 2999 yards on 4.7 ypc.
