This is how every AD in the country feels about their good but not championship caliber non-revenue sports, and it's why Murphy's seat won't heat up until he goes 2-3 years in a row without an ace pitcher to run into the ground.
Honestly if Fouts had stayed home and gone to Kentucky he might have been fired a few years ago. He's never ever going to change anything with the offense.

So who does he start running into the ground next season? Unless he’s got a freshman phenom waiting in the wings, we won’t have pitching or hitting next year.

Surprising that this team ended up in Oklahoma City but they did get a very favorable path to the WCWS from the NCAA. Felt like were not only over-seeded but got a soft draw with no major conference teams in the regional and NW being a weaker bottom seeded opponent than usual in the super regional. I'll take it...get some good bounces and great pitching for a week then you win a title.

Torrence and Salter should be good. Portal exists also

I bet you said the same thing the last time time we went. Just shut up and go watch something else.
No thanks. I'll continue watching and rooting for our team and at the same time not blindly supporting a coach who's stuck in 2012 and knows jack shite about developing hitters. And I'll still watch next season even though without Montana we'll probably be bottom half of the SEC. Kindly GFY.

I get frustrated with the lack of hitting sometimes but y’all can bookmark this post . Be.careful what you wish for . We could do a lot worse than winning 40-50 games and hosting regionals and super regional every year
Many Dawg fans said the same thing about Richt winning 10 games a year. It’s ok to admit the game has passed Murph by. History shouldn’t matter.

I agree with the analysis that Murph has not grown with the game. Our hitting is just not enough to win championships anymore. You gotta be able to hit mistakes out of the park...smallball is over in college softball.
With that said, lets hope for some good fortune on offense and Montana gets closer to 100%.

Richt never won a national championship and Murphy has had a lot more postseason success than Richt did. It's a dumb comparison.

I thin Greg Byrne is a little bit different. He likes scoring so I think he will encourage Murphy to improve offensively.
Alabama sells itself...Murphy is a darn good recruiter and he's been a decent coach...but there's somebody out there who could be BETTER giving the resources here at Bama.
I love Murphy but in order for Bama to compete for championships...offensively he'll have to adjust to the new age approach.

100% agree on all . I love watching OU hitters hit the ball to the warning track on outs it seems 1-9. Just saying that if/when he is fired / retires it won’t be as easy as some in here think. It’s easy to say well it’s Bama , we can get whatever recruits we want with our program . But remember Murphy built this program and these girls are not coming to Bama just bc they have a love for the University , they love Murphy . Believe me, I get the frustration bc I am right there with you , but just saying , Murphy’s success of hosting Supers and getting to OKC is nothing to sneeze at
ETA- Definitely want a hitting philosophy change . If we get a few big girls who can stroke it, many on here will say they are fat and out of shape
can’t make everyone happy . 14 WCWS apps in 25 seasons is pretty good

And one win. One. We have everything Oklahoma has except a coach. He has underachieved with the resources available. We should be competing for a title every year with our program.

Yes I agree, that program that Murphy built . Since hiring Murphy, only UCLA, Arizona and OU have been to OKC as often or more. I am not defending his style at all. All coaches , including Saban can improve on some aspect of their program . I am just saying it is asinine to act like Murphy hasn’t done a good job for UA

Montana gets her 100th win in her final game at Rhoads. The season has been frustrating at times but the fans showed up and the team pulled it out. On to OKC!
OKC Bound! Alabama Softball Punches its 14th Ticket to Women’s College World Series
The Crimson Tide will open play at the WCWS Thursday against Tennessee at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN
Alabama softball defeated Northwestern, 3-2, in Sunday's game three of the Tuscaloosa Super Regional to punch the Crimson Tide's 14th ticket to the Women's College World Series.
No. 5 seed Alabama (45-20) will be making its 14th appearance in Oklahoma City, returning after a one-year absence. After falling to Northwestern (42-13) in game one of the Super Regional, the Crimson Tide rallied to take games two and three, marking the third time in program history Alabama has done so. Both previous instances also occurred in Tuscaloosa, against Stanford in 2011 and Oklahoma in 2015.
Alabama opens play at the 2023 Women's College World Series Thursday, June 1 at 11 a.m. CT against Tennessee on ESPN.
Montana Fouts (25-10) earned the win in relief, the 100th of her career in her final game at Rhoads Stadium. She is the fourth player in program history to earn 100 wins, joining Shelley Laird (115), Kelsi Dunne (113) and Jackie Traina (106).
After a one-hour lightning delay in the bottom of the third, two singles and a walk quickly loaded the bases for Alabama before Ally Shipman roped a single down the left field line, driving in two to give the Crimson Tide the first lead of the game. With two on and one out in the top of the fourth, Fouts entered to pitch in relief. After a strikeout for out number two, a bloop single to shallow center drove in a run before a force out at third base ended the half-inning with the score now 2-1.
Leading off the bottom of the fifth, Jenna Johnson bounced one off the foul pole for a solo home run to make it a 3-1 game. With the score the same in the top of the seventh, a one-out solo home run from Maeve Nelson cut the lead to one but a groundout and strikeout sealed the victory to send the Tide to OKC.
From Head Coach Patrick Murphy
"First, I want to congratulate Northwestern on a great year. They are a great opponent and a classy bunch. Great fans and great coaching staff. I'm sure their seniors are going to do great things in life with a hell of a degree from Northwestern University. I cannot tell you how gratifying the last two weeks have been. It's been such a great team to coach with great senior leadership and everyone has bought in. It has been a storybook season with everything we've been through. It's still an unreal feeling sitting here knowing we're going to Oklahoma City."

Got a tough draw in OKC. Got to admit, I didn’t think this team could there this year. Just glad Fouts got to go out in style
