PFF also gave him honorable mention for their All-SEC team for the week, which means he had at worst a top 4 tackle performance for USM.

And PFF looks at every play...

LINK ]Alabama practice report: Terrell Lewis update By Michael Casagrande | mcasagrande@al.com
quote:

On a nice Tuesday afternoon in Tuscaloosa, the Alabama football team went through Day 2 of preparation for Saturday’s game with Ole Miss.

A few notes from the media viewing period:

-- Outside linebacker Terrell Lewis was dressed and leading the positional drills after missing last week’s game against Southern Miss. He hyperextended his knee a week before that at South Carolina and he was letting it heal after a medical procedure, Nick Saban said. Lewis was at practice Monday but wasn’t spotted participating in drills.

-- Defensive lineman D.J. Dale was dressed out for a second straight day but didn’t appear to be doing any of the drills again. He injured his patellar tendon against Southern Miss. Saban said he hoped both he and Lewis would be good to go for the 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday visit from Ole Miss.

-- Watching the offensive line drills, they weren’t going five across to see the full alignment. It did, however, look like Deonte Brown was running with the second group at right guard. Saban on Monday said the starter from last year would have to beat someone for the job if he wanted it back after a six-game NCAA suspension.

-- Injured kicker Will Reichard was in full uniform for practice but it doesn’t sound like he’ll be doing much for the time being as his hip flexor injury heals.

-- Watching the defensive backs, the same dime formation group was out there including freshman Jordan Battle at safety. When the second team came out, Eddie Smith was shadowing one of the safeties.

-- The next update from Nick Saban comes Wednesday morning on the weekly SEC coaches teleconference.

-- One a side note, construction began Monday on the Alabama football complex addition of a sports science center.

LINK ]Injury/practice report: The latest on Deonte Brown, returning players Christopher Walsh by Christopher Walsh
quote:

Although no longer suspended, Brown still has to reclaim starting job on offensive line

Offensive lineman Deonte Brown is back on the Alabama active roster, but is a ways from reclaiming his starting job.

Brown was practicing with reserves on Tuesday and is eligible to play against Ole Miss after completing a six-game suspension that was issued by the NCAA prior to the College Football Playoff.

However, as BamaCentral’s Cary L. Clark reported on our Talk of the Tide forum page, Brown recently gained significant weight when going through concussion protocol and has to get back into playing shape.

“The plan for every player on our team is the guy’s got to beat someone out if he wants to play,” Nick Saban said. “I mean, nobody’s entitled to play. If he gets in shape, he does what he’s supposed to do, he shows he’s better than somebody else who’s playing, that’s the plan.”

Specifically, Brown was at right guard next to Tommy Brown at right tackle on the second team. The first-team offensive line had no changes with Chris Owens at center, and Landon Dickerson next to right tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. at right guard.

Alabama has a bye next week before visiting Texas A&M.

Meanwhile, both redshirt junior Terrell Lewis (knee) and freshman D.J. Dale (ankle) returned to drills Tuesday, but neither was full-go. Lewis was held out of the Southern Miss game and Dale left early.

Tight end Miller Forristall did not appear to be at practice during media viewing.

Alabama worked inside in full pads while preparing for Ole Miss. Conditions outside were sunny and 90 degrees (heat index 94).

The forecast for Saturday’s game at Bryant-Denny Stadium (2:30 p.m., CBS) is partly cloudy and 95 degrees.

Injury rundown

Junior defensive end LaBryan Ray (foot) will be out at least another month.
Junior interior linebacker Dylan Moses: Out indefinitely with a knee injury.
Senior interior linebacker Josh McMillon: Out indefinitely with a knee injury.
Freshman running back Trey Sanders: Out indefinitely with a left foot injury.
Reserve offensive lineman Hunter Brannon is out indefinitely.
Freshman defensive lineman Antonio Alfano remains absent.

I have been extremely blessed with a very fast metabolism, so I have no idea how this happens. Especially, when these guys have a damn nutritionist. This lack of self control will prevent cornbread from being great.

Brown has had weight issues since he arrived, even when he was starting last year.

He can't get out his way on that. Hoping Emil Ekiyor doesn't find himself in the same boat, he was way too big in 2018 and is now banged up.

It happens a lot, especially with kids from lower SES backgrounds. You live your life alternatively eating junkfood and barely getting enough to eat then you come to a place where you can eat way more and there are plenty of ways to get free food... it's a recipe for trouble for many people.

I gained 30 after I got hurt my senior season, solid 270 playing o line for 2 years, literally 6 weeks after getting hurt was closing in on 290 and the frustration of being hurt was leading me to eat my feelings.

I just don't see him as better than the current starters. It's the QW problem.

Yep. We need to cycle through defensive linemen like we did in 2015

I've come to terms with the fact that was more or less a one year aberration.
