Here are some team nuggets from the first three practices. It’s early, so don’t write this in stone.

-- On Wednesday, Nick Saban said sophomore Bryce Young is “a little bit ahead” of the other quarterbacks. In practice, Young has taken the majority of the first-team reps, with Paul Tyson working with the twos but also receiving some first-team work through three days.

-- With a couple of offensive linemen out, including Emil Ekiyor, the O-line could look different by the end of the spring -- and start of fall camp -- but early on, the first unit has consisted of, from left to right, Evan Neal, Tommy Brown, Chris Owens, Javion Cohen and Damieon George with Kendall Randolph working at tight end and right tackle, too. The second group has been Amari Kight, Terrence Ferguson, Darrian Dalcourt, Tanner Bowles and JC Latham.

-- At the receiver position, all of the healthy players are getting reps. Slade Bolden, Javon Baker, Xavier Williams and Traeshon Holden have all worked with the first group. As for the freshmen, Jacorey Brooks, Agiye Hall and Christian Leary, they have all looked the part in their first college practices. One source made sure to mention Leary “can fly,” which is no surprise.

-- Brian Robinson is leading the running backs, but Jase McClellan has also seen work with the first-team offense. Keilan Robinson, after missing last season, has been the third tailback.

-- Defensively, there’s not much to report at this point, but the cornerback position, which is open with Patrick Surtain II turning pro, has been manned by Jalyn Armour-Davis. No surprise to see some of the program’s older players filling first-team roles at this point in the spring, but again, it’s early and things can change. Ronald Williams has also been standing out.

*** Alabama will practice again this afternoon and tomorrow before taking two days off.

Means we have good competition but kinda surprised to see George, Ferguson, Cohen and Brown to be making moves and some this early in their career

Mainly George and Ferguson. George must have really worked on S&C

In my opinion, Jase will end up being the first string, and I believe Keilan will be 2b

Good to hear that JAD is getting another opp to earn quality PT... wasn't he the Star last year until BB seemed to take over, only to be passed by MM just before the start of the season? Hope he gets his chance, injuries may have cost him a great career at Bama. As always, with the more seasoned players who get passed by, I worry about the Portal trigger; but, it is what it is.

Based off my opinion. What are you going by, since we lost our number 1?

Apparently, you have much more information than my opinion, so please share........

More transfers are needed to meet the 85 limit.

4 to 7 by August. This Roster/Depth post (link is in the pinned Tide FB Recruiting & Roster thread 1st post) explains and breaks it all down.

just based on the way Saban has operated in the past, I would be totally shocked if B Rob isn't the starter, unless he gets injured. But, that's just an opinion, too.

I have never really liked BRob until late in the year this past season. He still has a ways to go catching it and in Pass Pro A Gap strong and weak. Najee became so damn good at all 3.Best combo I have seen for years.

Hard to tell about Trey. Has been so snakebit.

Impossible NOT to like what Jase M,RWilliams, and KEdwards bring to the RB room. The 3 have become studs in the weight room and JM and RW have outstanding quickness,if NOT speed.

KRob is a burner and has gotten bigger..Kenyon Drake anyone?

And finally?...I hope Wheaton has as much patience as I believe it is going to take, and has had good guidance...Hope he gives it 2 years and see where he is before he bolts prematurely. I think he is easily the best RB coming out of HS in the 2021 cycle. And he is at the right place. Just be patient, ala Najee...BRob...The monster DHenry..And so many others..The kid reminds me so much of Reggie Bush it is scary!!!....RTR!!!!
