It might help but he has not changed since he started. And last night showed how slow he is.His only move is to get a guy that is stationary and hit them with a left cross. I think the UFC thought it was a cool novelty to have him but I think the shine wore off. I look for him to be cut pretty soon. One or two more losses and he’s done.

Some of us were saying this..
He transferred because his father knows Mac Jones is going to start with no spring ball to give Taulia a chance to challenge him.
Galu knows Bryce Young is the next big thing ao no point in waiting for his son to be easily beat out by Tua 2.0.

AL.com article on why Lia left
This quote says it all for me
quote:
“The thing in the beginning with Lia committing to Alabama, it was a family decision,” Galu said. “But this was more just about what he felt was right for him, and we wanted to support that and to be there for him. We really didn’t want him to leave. We wanted him to stay at Alabama. But at the same time, it’s just something that he felt like he needed to do and wanted to do.

His father is making all the decisions for both of them. I sort of feel bad because I believe he did not want to follow his brother to UA.
I really hope the kid does well and finds a place that he wants to be at.

“But we’re so grateful and thankful for Coach Saban, Ms. Terry, their family, Coach Sark and the entire coaching staff, Dr. Cain, Dr. Andrews, Jeff Allen and staff, Greg Byrne and his wife and Tiffini Grimes, Ashleigh Kimble and staff. I wish he could finish his career with Coach Saban, but I totally understand. I’m a parent and we just want what’s best for our kids.”

yea, it looks like they were hoping that Lia could close the gap in Spring practice, but since that didnt happen with the virus, they didnt feel he would be given much of a chance in Fall practice.

Not sure if yo are disagreeing with me or not. But reading the articles and hearing the father saying his son loves to compete but yet is not willing to stay for the fall and try but willing to go to Maryland and redshirt.
quote:
He’s a competitor. He likes to work. He likes to compete on the field.
quote:
This kid likes to play. He wants a chance to get on the field. He knew that him getting on the field this past season was just to hand off the ball and they didn’t really showcase him and who he is. He doesn’t fear competition.
quote:
where he’ll have a shot at more snaps after presumably redshirting during the 2020 season.
He would been giving the same chance here as Saban has always given players the opportunity to compete for a spot. He could of even redshirted as well if needed in the fall. Mac Jones stuck it out and many thought he would transfer. Jones competed and he is the starter now.
Again hope he does well at Maryland

I have no problem with Lia leaving or the Tagovailoa family. Tua will always be a legend here. The only thing that bugs me a little is Galu saying Lia wasn’t given a chance to compete. Well, yes he was. He was a true freshman last year learning the playbook. Was he supposed to start over Tua? Or Mac Jones who is a veteran and knows the offense well? We didn’t get spring practice so how was Saban supposed to allow him to compete any more than he did? Just seems like a foolish thing for Galu to say given all UA has done for his family.
The bottom line is that Lia had 2 QBs ahead of him who are just better QBs at this stage of their careers. Mac is a veteran, with lots of experience and he’s a good leader. Young, much like Tua, seems to be a generational talent type player. It’s ok to just admit your son was buried on the depth chart and wanted to go to a lesser program for playing time. No shame in that at all. No excuses needed about not getting to compete or any other BS.

Any kid playing Qb with multiple D1 offers should have taken the offer with best odds of playing time based on style of offense.
But competion is always going to be there.Uga lost top Qb who did not want to wait and Tua himself said he considered transfering
The point were at now would maybe be moot had Tua came back.
Then the question is would his dad still be for him transferring had Tua returned.

I find it hard to believe Young buried him on the depth chart when he has yet to take even a practice snap at Alabama.
