Several University of Alabama football players are expected to miss Saturday’s scrimmage at Bryant-Denny Stadium, including freshman running back Trey Sanders, who is facing season-ending foot surgery next week.
Sanders, one of the nation’s top-rated prep running backs in 2018, was absent from the Crimson Tide’s practice on Friday. He is expected to undergo surgery to repair a broken foot as soon as Monday.
Other players who are expected to miss the scrimmage are defensive tackle DJ Dale, out with a sprained knee, and freshman offensive lineman Pierce Quick. Defensive tackle LaBryan Ray, who has not practiced in August due to a foot injury, is also expected to remain on the sidelines.
This story will be updated following Saturday’s scrimmage.

Once pads go on during fall camp, no news is good news. With that thought in mind, Alabama fans got some news Saturday morning -- and it wasn't good.
Prior to today's scrimmage, five-star freshman running back Trey Sanders was on crutches and sporting a boot on his left foot as he got off the team bus at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The scene confirmed what had been feared since Thursday night.

— Injured running back Trey Sanders was not present during the viewing period but was seen arriving at Bryant-Denny Stadium on crutches. According to reports, the five-star freshman will miss all of next season after suffering a significant foot injury during Thursday’s practice.
— The defensive line had two absences as LaBryan Ray (ankle) and D.J. Dale (knee) were both missing. Defensive backs Nigel Knott (undisclosed) and Brandon Turnage (undisclosed) were also absent from the viewing period.
— Dylan Moses was dressed out in full pads but did not participate with the rest of the inside linebackers during drills. He was wearing sneakers instead of cleats.

Ugh how’s the ILB recruiting looking for next year cause honestly we need more than we can probably count at this point. But hey maybe Ben Davis gets a chance to finally play because of this.

Benton and/or Lee are my guesses on who starts even if McMillon isn’t hurt that badly. What is it about Moody that makes me think he just isn’t in the running? I figured Kano would be last year and he has the athleticism to be the guy but he is a head case.
