Still depressed about Jaylen. That kid is amazing. Prayers for his quick recovery and I hope he is back 100% by the Combine so he can blow that shite up.

We should still be able to score on offense but we are now gonna have to be more methodical than big play. Slade did look pretty good though and hopefully Baker is as good as people were saying in Camp

participation chart on Rolltide.com shows a few new players. I am not sure I know how to link it but 50 on the DL, Tim Smith I think. 84 a wide receiver only 160 pounds. And of course Charlie Scott the kicker. I saw an interview with NS after the game and NS said Charlie had the best hang time and got the ball of quick which was why he was named the starter. I assume on away games Will R is the back up punter.

At this point, if he can consistently have hang times that result in a net 35 yards, I'd think that was a win for us.

Why can we not go out and get one of the best punters? You can bet there are a few teams in the league that will have a good punter. Why not us?

Again you have to remember position of the ball where it was placed.

I think CNS chewed Banks out these past weeks, deservedly so. ST as a whole was much better.

Just looked over the game stats.

It really didn't feel like the defense did this good, but Tennessee was 6 of 20 on 3rd and 4th down conversions. Since they were 2/4 on 4th, the overall drive stays alive rate was 6 of 16.

That ain't bad at all.

Also, Tennessee averaged only 3.7 ypc and their running backs only averaged 3 ypc.

I know it's only Tennessee but the D did a pretty danged good job yesterday.

Yeah, 8/24 overall on 3rd & 4th downs seems pretty good, but that's about normal for UT. Also, we allowed a couple of long conversions via QB scramble runs. We need to fix that leakage and improve our pass rushing. We had zero sacks and only one QB hurry in 25 passing attempts.

I’m concerned we don’t have any pass rush. 2nd to last in the conference in sacks per game. So many plays this in which the QBs had completely clean pockets to throw, and if they can flush the QB he ends up running the ball for a first anyway.

A stat I just read- Alabama has not lost to a SEC East team in 10 years, since 2010.

Since Saban became coach in 2007, Alabama has only lost to an SEC East team 3 times- Georgia (2007), Florida (SEC championship game 2008), and South Carolina (2010).

Yep. Got to give credit when it’s due. Aside from a few mistakes by Battle, I thought the defense played physical and fast. Couple of good zone calls by Golding had us in the right positions

Exactly, gonna need a rush on Lawrence or he'll throw on us like he did last time.

I’ve noticed we stunt the DL a lot and that takes a little bit of time to develop; we seem to get decent pressure when we just go after the QB. I think the lack of sacks is probably due to busted coverages that give the QB an easy out rather than right coverage making him hold onto the ball a second or two longer.

UT was one of the worst teams in the SEC on third down conversions so we basically held them to their average but beat our average as our D was giving opponents a conversion rate of over 50%

I agree with the first part but the coverage was good outside a few big plays. He had all day throw in the pocket which is indicative of good coverage but no pressure.

Yea I’m honestly not sure how to explain the lack of sacks. We seem to have guys in the QBs face and move the pocket some, but they just can’t seem to shed the blocks very quickly. The outside guys don’t get great leverage and forced too deep into the backfield.

Mathis and Barmore seem to be the best at using their hands to get blockers off, but they are always stunting behind guys and the whole process just takes way too long, so by the time they disengage the blocker it’s been 3-4 seconds.
