Can you even go overseas right now? That may be factoring in as well.

If Petty comes back how do y’all think the rotation works out? Cause we will be deep 1-13, and Oats says he only plays 9 maybe 10 guys

The way injuries have gone lately for both hoops and football, it will work out that we have 3 scholly players, the team manager, and some guy that won the HORSE tourney at the rec center last week on the floor.

Just a rough guess:

Starting 5:

JQ
Primo
Petty
Herb
Bruner

Bench:
Shack
Ellis
Rojas
Gary

Redshirt:
Ambrose
Miles

No Minutes:
Reese
Galin/Javian(whichever one stays)

That looks good except I would guess Reese will either figure as a rotational player or not end up on the team.

Also, probably see Shack being a starter right off the bat as a returning player . . . not that it really matters as his minutes will likely work out the same regardless of who starts.

My guess at our 3 deep. I think Miles would redshirt.

PG Jahvon Quinerly / Josh Primo / Herb Jones
SG Jaden Shackelford / Josh Primo / Keon Ellis
Wing John Petty / Keon Ellis / Juwan Gary
SF Herb Jones / James Rojas / Keon Ambrose
PF Jordan Bruner / James Rojas / Alex Reese

We have so many guys who can play different positions though, we will see a ton of different lineup combinations.

Predicting it by who gets the most minutes I'd guess

1. Herb
2. Petty
3. Quinerly
4. Shack
5. Bruner
6. Primo
7. Rojas
8. Ellis
9. Reese

Yale graduate-transfer Jordan Bruner was a huge addition, as was four-star guard Josh Primo. Junior college shooter Keon Ellis and Rivals150 forward Darius Miles add depth, as does four-star forward Keon Ambrose-Hylton. If Jahvon Quinerly steps up from the get-go next year, the Tide have a chance play deep into March.

and that was his prediction for us without Petty.

No surprise, but Kira is officially staying in the draft.

#1 Quinerly for minutes played.

If Petty comes back, this will be the most experienced team we have had in a long time. And deeper too, if we can stay reasonably injury free.

Be cool to see us with no injuries and no excuses. Hopefully we could breakthrough.

Still gonna need to see it happen before I get too giddy.

Nate Oats is doing a video interview with Crimson Tide Sports Network on their facebook page at 1:30 central.

I hate to do it, because I always do this, but I think with the improvement and promise we showed under Oats last season if we stay healthy and are able to get on campus here soon I don’t even think we are a bubble team

I'm happy with things and excited but we lost at home to Texas A&M and Vanderbilt in must win games down the stretch. Vanderbilt hadn't won a SEC road game in 2+ years. That can't just be swept away because John Petty was injured.

Again, hopefully Year 2 with a deeper roster and more development takes a step. But we as a program have to prove some shite because getting ANY benefit of the doubt.

I’m actually just going into the next season as there won’t be any basketball or football. I’m already preparing myself

Culture change: it's been missing since late in the Gottfried era. That was the one missing element last season. If Nate can manage to change the culture in year two, and I think he can, we are going to be a dangerous team.

We need to come out of the gate winning. We put ourselves on the bubble every year by throwing away games in Nov and Dec.
