quote:
Avery says they will seriously discuss evaluate rotation in the next two days.He says we were not ready and it was his fault for not preparing them properly. Back to the drawing board for him. :
This is the damning thing. So, essentially they don't even know their fricking rotation and Avery was just throwing shite in to see what works? It's game TWELVE.

Not to mention the Canada games

Granted... he is just now getting back Key but still.
Personally, I'd start
Sexton
Petty
Ingram
Giddens
Hall
First off the bench:
Key (once he gets in shape)
Jr.
Smith/Reese
Norris (dude gets you 3-4 points & rebounds but I feel like he isn't athletic enough and we aren't a well coached team to cover that up)
I think Herb will be a good player but until he can control his foul count. He is a liability.

were just not coached well ....and it fricking sucks.I like the rest of you really was pulling for Avery.Loved his attitude and how he promotes the program.
**We have no leadership period
**miss free throws
**don't box out
**passes are lazy and usually late or to the wrong guy
**effort is usually shite
**some of the dumbest basketball ive ever witnessed
**if we should pass we shoot , should drive we pull up
**In the post ...defender gives you the left n you force it right and brick a bad sky hook
**we miss fricking wide open layups
I'd gladly trade some talent for a well coached team.

Man you guys are going to look silly once Avery gets this train rolling. And he will get it rolling- downhill. Its taking him a little longer than we thought to work out the kinks in the chain but I can hear the train coming, the tracks rumbling and the whistle.
I am no sunshine pumper but I can't see how Avery can fail. So stop dying with each game we will have a good season.

I think Avery is coaching this team like you have to coach an NBA team, where you have to "be their friend".
In the NBA, that may be OK, because you are dealing with professionals that are top in their craft.
Whereas in college, you need to be a lot more demanding and tougher with the kids, so they can grow up and mature.

It's sad that gene , an Auburn fan has more sense than anyone on this board. Young talent takes time to gell and grow. If any of u can't see that this team has played a difficult schedule than I don't know what to tell u. Improvement has to be made yes , but LSU better than us, nit ? Lol really . We could be 10&1 right now against a crap schedule and it would be fools gold. The biggest thing is getting freshmen to understand that it takes bringing it night in and night out. The UCF game is the only loss that wasn't expected. We re still where I thought we d be and I still believe it'll come together. Way more to look forward to than the last couple of regimes gave us. While I'm venting , someone on this thread or another said we re killing Sexton's stock and he should sit rest of year. That is beyond a dumb shite statement because he's a lottery pick anyway and quit or sit isn't part of his vocabulary.

I remember starting a thread about poor coaching and got over 50 downvotes.

should we discontinue basketball; and use the money for something constructive, with an actual purpose?

Avery might be the Kevin Sumlin of basketball....if you have to kiss the azzz of the recruits to get them to sign then expect to continue that process to get them to play............this bunch is soft and show little signs of being well coached. Come March it will become clear whether the guy is just a good recruiter or a good coach (both).

I'm still sticking with 9-4 ooc and 9-9 in conference, win 1 in the tourney and make it at 19-13.
Do we really think we were better than that team? If we played them 10 times, I'm not sure we would win 5.
Don't jump out the window yet.
We need to split the Tex/A&M games and honestly the better outcome was beating A&M due to it being an SEC game. That's still there for us.

Good recruiting is more than half the battle in Basketball.Teams that recruit well have successful basketball programs. Marry good players with with even half decent coaching you can go far in college basketball. Plenty of examples if anyone wants to research that. Dale Brown & Jim Boeheim come to mind. Did Wimp win with great coaching or great players? Or a little bit of both?

Avery needs to call Wimp and get a few pointers.

Haven't watched much basketball this year, but the effort was not there.
We missed a 3 pointer and they had a 4 v 1 the other way. Bamba flushed it with not another Bama player anywhere on the screen.
Another, Bamba has the ball in low post and it's knocked out of his hands. 3 Bama defenders surrounded the ball yet Bamba, a frickin 7 footer, is the only one on the floor after the ball.
