Our pitching outside of the top 4-5 guys has been about as bad as physically possible this season.

Not sure what happened but Connor didn’t pitch tonight. He was listed in the game notes as the likely starting pitcher and was in the lineup tweeted out tonight and was announced in the stadium as the starting pitcher, but Jake Eddington started, followed by Eli Giles then Hunter Ruth (each going 3 innings). Hope Connor is ok.

Caden Rose with the only home run of the night (although Sam, Owen and Drew would have likely had home runs if the field wasn’t 400 feet deep). Caden also threw a guy out at home plate from deep center field. It was a thing of beauty but the guy got hurt sliding into Sam. Looked like he was ok after the game.

Good contingent of Bama faithful there tonight. Gotta take care of Mizzou then Bama plays Samford at the Hoover Met next Tuesday (Samford ‘home’ game) for those interested in a trip to the Met. Roll Tide!

Alabama Baseball Storms Past UAB, 9-3

On the 10-year anniversary of the tornado that ravaged Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, the Crimson Tide took down the Blazers at Regions Field

(Editor’s note: Bama vs UAB was also the last game played before the pandemic shut everything down last season)

Complete Team Effort Leads Baseball to 9-3 Win at UAB on Tuesday

Alabama baseball put together a complete effort on Tuesday evening at Regions Field, taking down the UAB Blazers by a score of 9-3. The midweek win sets the Crimson Tide at 25-15 on the season.

Jake Eddington (1-0) picked up his first career win in a spot start. After finding out he would get the nod just minutes before first pitch, Eddington came out and worked 3.0 innings of two-run baseball with four strikeouts. The right-hander then turned it over to the bullpen with the duo of Eli Giles and Hunter Ruth working the final 6.0 frames. Ruth earned the save with 3.0 scoreless that featured four strikeouts.

Alabama's offense put together an equally impressive performance, posting nine runs on 12 hits with eight of the nine starters recording at least one base knock. Six of those hits were doubles, a new season-high total for UA. The offense was led by Caden Rose with the freshman finishing 3-for-4 and a triple short of the cycle. Rose added a team-high three runs to go with two RBI.
