FBS can take a hike.

How they came up with 13 we would never know.

I still will never understand Georgia losing to South Carolina and getting skull drug in the Championship game and they drop to #5 in all polls.

The Bama hatred is palpable in the FBS, espn, and committee. I can’t be a hypocrite I mean I hate them too I just don’t have the power to do anything about my hatred to harm them like they can to harm us though. That’s what bothers me.

It's simple. They didn't want Alabama to be an option for the NY6 bowls. We for sure would have gone to one if we were available to be selected.

The CFP committee is a bunch of morons and has hurt their credibility with knowledgeable fans.

We lose two games by 8 pts and UGA loses to USCe and gets boatraced LSU. They're #5 and we're #13. Yeah, right.

frick BIASED CFP MFers.

The AP and Coaches poll mean absolutely nothing. We had a far from good defense this year. What's the old saying, "Defense wins Championships". We crapped the bed when it counted. Maybe the defense will come out in the Citrus Bowl and prove me wrong. Do you really want to watch another embarrassing performance in a NY6 game because everyone is pissed about not making the playoffs and having a shot at a National Championship?

Kids in third world countries think UGA is on the brink of a dynasty with all the shirts they’ve been getting.

AP and The Coaches Polls are opinion polls just like the FBS. They are still relevant and still generate interest throughout the year and still award National Championship trophies. They don't carry the same significance anymore but still are a collective expression of Media and Coaches opinions.
As for NY bowls ; yes I would prefer us to be in them for their tradition, money, cachet, publicity and recruiting opportunities. Anyday.

College Football Rankings - Week 16 (ESPN)
(CFB Playoff | AP Poll | Coaches Poll)

#s 1-12 have all beaten currently ranked teams.

We shite the bed when we played LSU and AU.

It doesn't really matter ,remember the criteria of eye test?
You really think we are the thirteenth best team in the country?
Texas A&M was ranked when we played them. They played the toughest schedule in the country and ended up,with 5 losses.

Obviously, it does really matter. I remember that my eyes saw a very undisciplined, sloppy team, especially on defense -- busted assigments, dumb penalties, poor tackling...

Per the CFP Committee's ranking criteria and protocol, #13 looks about right. The #1 - #12 teams all have better resumés. I can't make a strong case for ranking us above any of them; e.g., #5 UGA beat #9 UF, who both beat #12 AU, who beat us.

I'm not confident that Bama (without Tua) would beat any of the teams A&M lost to.

What you are saying is mostly right and we would still beat almost all the teams ranked ahead of us except the playoff teams. Because that's the talent advantage we have and we still have Saban.
If you can't see that we'll just have to disagree.

I think they still matter. Obviously prior to the college football playoff, the CFP Committee Ranking is the only thing that matters. However, the Committee doesn't even do a final end of season ranking after the playoffs and bowl games so your end of the year ranking is absolutely still determined by the two major polls (AP and Coaches).

For Alabama, being ranked 9 in AP means beat Michigan and finish in the top 10 for the 12th year in a row. Bama is currently tied with Michigan (1940-1950) and Oklahoma (1948-1958) (both basically ancient history football wise) for the second longest streak of AP top 10 finishes. FSU has the longest streak at 14 years (1987-2000) which once seemed kind of unbeatable. With a win versus Michigan, Alabama would be two years away from matching FSU's streak which is a great testament to the sustained excellence under Saban.

So if you are looking for motivation to give a shite about the Michigan game, perhaps keeping the top 10 streak alive can give you some.

Unfortunately the streak of top 5 finishes will come to an end at 5. Incredibly FSU's streak of 14 top 10 finishes was also a streak of 14 top 5 finishes which is just crazy. Of course Alabama's current top 10 streak includes 5 NCs and FSUs "only" included 2. They were close but no cigar a lot.

who should be above us? Resumes consists of both wins and losses, not just the losses. we have 3 wins over top 15 teams, there are very few teams (actually, just LSU) that can say the same. The only team that could really make a case is oregon, on the strength of winning their conference. But they have zero top 10 wins, lost to a team we beat, and has another loss to a 7-5 arizona state. I would be fine if people wanted to switch us, but what does it really matter who is 5 or 6 if you aren't in the playoff?

On a separate note, bama at 13 is laughably bad. That's criminal and I see no way at all to justify that.
