Which is to say ,he doesn’t trust Tyson in that role, just yet.

Yeah, Tyson didnt look great throwing the ball last week. But Milroe looks just barely capable of being a QB at this point.

Tyson looked like crap Saturday. This is his 3rd year on campus, he should look better by now IMO if he had what it takes at this level. Milroe needs a year to learn playbook and work on passing mechanics. If Young goes down we are in deep doodoo this year.

how do you know about Milroe as he has not been given a chance to throw

I think the bad throws from Tyson were probably due to nerves. He wouldnt have made it this far if he flat out cant throw at all. The most important thing for him is going to be learning the system and getting the timing right. Basically, he needs to try to become Mac Jones.

Nerves? As a junior in a half empty stadium against Mercer? Lawd I hope not.

So you think he just cant throw and they neglected to recruit someone else?

I don't think he's an elite caliber QB at the CFB level. I think Tyson would do ok at Southern Miss or UAB type schools. I think the bottom line, especially now with free agency in college football, is that it will be next to impossible to keep more than 1 quality QB on your roster. Guys who are good, will either start by their 2nd year or they will transfer. Just reality for most schools. The days of having Jalen, Tua and Mac all together waiting their time is over, I'm afraid.

I agree with that. But that should be serviceable in a pinch.

I wouldnt be surprised if some gadget stuff is in the works with Milroe. I dont know why you'd run him as much as we did Saturday otherwise

There was a lot of talk in the Summer that Milroe was going to have a Wildcat package that was part of the normal gameplan. Who knows if they ended up going with that, but if they did, I'd guess we haven't seen it yet because it hasn't been needed.
He certainly looks and runs like a guy that you feel good about having the ball in his hands on a 3rd and short in terms of power and speed, not to mention they have to respect the fact that he might throw it over their heads.

Who was on here during fall camp saying Milroe was a possibility to beat out B. Young?
I'm not downing Milroe; I think he's got serious potential. But once again ... this just highlights why I'm always amused by the "Player A should start over Player B" opinions.

Not sure about that last part, George. He's got to throw it once or twice to make the other team respect it. I haven't seen that yet.

Milroe has some kind of package for him as stated by the commentators. BOB has three playbooks, one for each QB. Maybe we get to see Barkers son at some point?

We're talking Wildcat package respect - as in, you put a RB/WR in there and the defense decides to make him prove he's even willing to throw the ball.
Milroe as a college QB throwing right now is definitely super raw. Milroe as a wildcat QB throwing to an open man running down field is probably pretty damn good compared to RB/WRs.

Bingo....Nick has to be careful and hopefully the QB committed will stick on NSD.
The good news is most all teams will be in the same boat with one good QB and the drop to their #2 will be major.

Designed runs is all Milroe did vs Mercer. Why should anyone worry about him passing it?
