I agree. Freeze was a much better hire than Kiffin. As much as I hate it, I believe Freeze has what it takes to be successful. In 2 years the barn could be on a big upswing. I heard a radio show calling off all the ranked teams he beat when he was at Ole Miss. It was impressive. Saban better get make the right hires this off-season and right our ship in a hurry.

Hugh's tenure at Ole Miss was in the early days of RPO and hurry up offenses. Now everyone is running a version of that offense. Defenses have evolved and continue to do so. Freeze will not enjoy the surprise element that he did 5 years ago.

NCAA trouble

Is that still a thing?

Exactly AU made it a priority to dodge trouble from the NCAA for 20+ years post Eric Ramsey and now the NCAA is powerless. If they did not get caught for wrongdoing with Cam Newton then they will never be caught again. The only hope here is another sex scandal that involves Freeze.

I don't think Freeze is a better coach than Kiffin but he does have more longevity. I could see him lasting 7-8 years at AU or more but Kiffin would be gone within 5 years.

#1 rule of offense is knowing whats coming does not equal stopping it. Look at the auburn game.......Hugh's offense is only one area that could make him successful. His age, assistants, coaching mindset/experience, auburn money/hype machine, new driven AD, etc all play into it. Lets not forget the NCAA is basically useless. The barn will make SMU look like nothing with NIL. And it doesn't help that Bama's success is in a holding pattern with these coordinators and Saban's retirement is looming.

If Bama would do what it needs to do with our coaching staff, it wouldn't matter who Auburn hired.

That being said, I think he will do a good job early on.
He'll get all the support he needs to bring in the staff and players necessary to win.
