Our best receiver is looking to get purchased by Texas. How's that for recruiting? Barring new rules, CFB will soon more closely resemble a league where contracts are laid out and then the recruiting comes down to 1-3 schools depending on things like tax rates, your QB if the recruit is a receiver, your OL if the recruit is a QB, etc. Campus feel, "they have my major," pretty hostesses and photos on the visit are much less important than it used to be. Rosters resemble basketball more, where as you noticed we had something like 3 players come back and you have to learn every year who the players are.
It's a smart move to emphasize elite technical and scheme coaches ahead of the Dameyune Craigs. Elite programs need GMs and personnel handlers - the AD and staff have enough to do as it is. Saban might be good at that by the way!

Maybe we should ask Saban or Kirby if high school recruiting isn’t that important anymore

I absolutely love the hire but let’s not act like DeBoer wins National Championship with classes outside the top 10

Even in the NFL you can't just hop to a different team every year.

The way college football is right now cannot be sustained. No coach wants to have to re-recruit his current team every single season. What a nightmare. To quote Lethal Weapon, Saban just decided he was too old for this shite.

Oh, they absolutely are going to reform the current NIL/transfer portal mess. There’s no way restrictions aren’t put on it at some point in the near future, because it is getting out of hand and creating a huge problem. It’s gonna be cracked down on, these are STUDENT athletes, to give them more power than professional athletes and schools is simply a horrible idea, they gotta be reigned in on.

Yeah there is no more sweet talkin momma and endless visits to high schools, etc. You can do all that but if school X is offering him 100k more, your effort means nothing

And it will wind up in the Supreme Court where the last ruling on said issue was 9-0 and in Congress where everyone but Tubs who is not exactly objective is completely and bipartisanly on the players’ side here.

Of course some clueless poster on the More Sports board actually said the Supreme Court “violated college rules” like it gives six cacas about that.

Fans can yap all they want to on message boards but the reality is what they want isn’t being considered here and won’t be considered here. The old ways are not coming back and the new ways will work themselves out. I like having someone who gives the impression of being young enough and nimble/adaptable enough to maneuver himself and his program through the process.
