Watson will join the Crimson Tide staff following a two-year stint at Oklahoma as a graduate assistant where he contributed with on-court player development, game preparations and scouting for the Sooners.
"Cal is one of the brightest young minds in the game when it comes to scouting and analytics," said Love. "He has an elite ability to turn data into winning decisions, and, more importantly, he understands how to translate that to our players and staff. Cal is going to play a major role in how we prepare and develop and, ultimately, how we win at Alabama."
Outside of on-court development, Watson assisted in coding offensive playbooks for the team's game strategy and constructed comprehensive team and individual player data for the staff. Watson also served as one of the Sooner's practice players prior to is assistantship (2021-24).
"I am excited to join the University of Alabama women's basketball program," said Watson. "It is an honor to work at an institution that values relationships, teamwork and innovation at an elite level. I look forward to contributing to our student-athletes' development and success on and off the court. Roll Tide!"
