They (Vigor) celebrated past state champs and a few of the 87 88 players were there, the best high school team I ever saw bar none.

Best I've seen ever as well. They played Murphy one of those years in front of about 35,000 at Ladd. Pretty cool.

Baker vs. MGM will be epic. May have to go see my alma mater play for the first time in a decade. Skol!

Clay-Chalkville upset Thompson last night on ESPN2. Clay-Chalkville was ranked #2 in 6A while Thompson was ranked #17 in the country.

The Hartselle Tigers beat Oxford tonight 22-21. That's the first time in recent memory we have beaten two ranked Central Alabama teams since our team won it all in 2011. Bham schools have owned us in the playoffs unfortunately since then. My 2011 team beat a damn good Vigor team in Bryant-Denny. Pretty sure a couple of their players are still on NFL rosters

Hoover lost to Mountain Brook. This Hoover team is just awful.

Good Lord Central Phenix City is a powerhouse. Best the brakes off of Dothan 48-13. Dothan has a heck of a team in their own right. Beat Baker convincingly last week. Looking forward to Baker vs MGM next week. I would feel better if it was at home, but it should be a good one nonetheless.

Oxford was involved in classics in back-to-back weeks. They came out on the losing end in last week's game against Hartselle but rebounded with a last second win over Rush Propst and his Pell City team.

amazing how horrible football is north of Birmingham. What is the deal with that?

There are several northern teams on the list just not in 7A. Hartselle, Muscle Shoals, Oneonta, Westminster-Huntsville, Fyffe, Pisgah. But definitely north Alabama is big time basketball country over football as someone else already said. I lived in Morgan County for 29 years. Decatur used to have some good teams. I went to church with Coach Adcock when Rolando was doing his shenanigans.

I played at a 6A school in North AL in the early 2000’s. I’m not sure if it’s different then vs now but the problem the “good” 6A schools in North AL had back then was the speed of the game, especially on the LOS, and playing in really weak regions. My junior year we went 9-1 regular season only losing to Butler who had Ken Darby and Ramzee Robinson. Both us and Butler got upset in the first round by 2 Birmingham teams that finished 3rd and 4th in their region.
