With inclement weather forecasted over the next two days, the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional was forced to play both the first and second rounds on Monday. By the time the horn sounded to halt play, Alabama was one of nine teams that completed all 36 holes and is currently in seventh position with a team score of 7-under par 553 (276-277).

Three Crimson Tide golfers currently rank among the top-25 individuals when play was halted Monday evening. Canon Claycomb is in a tie for 12th at 5-under par, with Thomas Ponder in 15th at 4-under and Jonathan Griz in 24th at 2-under.

The third and final round of the regional will begin at the completion of the second round, which will resume Tuesday morning at 6:45 a.m. CT. The third round will not begin any earlier than 9:30 a.m.

Live stats throughout the event, which is being held at the par 70, 7,084-yard Finley Golf Club, can be found on Golfstat.com.

Unless a miracle happens, we won’t be in the top 5. Pretty disappointing end to the year

Recruiting future PGA pros that leave in the middle of the season like we have over the past years doesn't help your current season

Short par 5 17, a couple of birdies here would get my hopes up

Maybe a miracle is happening?? Tied up 5th with Ponder and Claycomb both on 18. If they both par we will be in a playoff. Hopefully we can do better.

Baylor's #1 bogeyed the final hole. We have life. Not sure how ties are broken but a birdie from Claycomb on 18 would put us through.

Claycomb bogeyed for us to fall to 6th and his college career is over. That’ll be a tough one to stomach.

The No. 9 Alabama men's golf team carded the second-lowest team score in Wednesday's final round of the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional but ultimately fell one shot short of qualifying for the 2024 NCAA Men's Golf Championships. The Crimson Tide closed the three-day event in sixth place overall with a 14-under par 826 (276-277-273), just one stroke behind Baylor for the fifth and final qualifying spot.

The Chapel Hill Regional saw rain play a major role throughout the week, forcing the teams to play 36 holes on Monday. Alabama had just teed off its third round on Tuesday before play was halted – and eventually suspended for the day – due to inclement weather.

The stoppage didn't slow down Alabama in Wednesday's final 18 holes, as the Crimson Tide carded a 7-under par 276 which tied North Carolina and Georgia Tech for the second-lowest round of the day by any team in the 13-team field (VCU finished at 13-under on the day).

Canon Claycomb led Alabama as he tied for eighth place (-8) while Thomas Ponder (-7) finished a shot back and tied for 12th overall in what would ultimately be their final event for the Crimson Tide.

From Head Coach Jay Seawell
"We had four seniors out there today and I thought our guys did an amazing job this week. We were behind the eight-ball coming into today and we just kept fighting. We were able to pull even down the stretch but just fell a shot short. I am absolutely heartbroken for these guys it hurts right now. This team fought their tails off all season and were able to achieve a lot of things this year. They tried to write their own legacy and they definitely did. How they handled themselves through all the adversity made me very proud to be their coach – one of the proudest I've ever been of any team I've ever coached. The end of the year always stinks but these four seniors really played their tails off today and gave us a chance to make it to national championship."

Watching Auburn men and women take over as the top team in the state and possibly country is depressing. We had a stronghold on this sport for a while. While I'm thrilled we have players that are so good that they can turn pro and play at a high level I really wish we could onto them a little longer
