i wouldnt be surprised to see Tony Brown or Humphrey if he comes. Those two guys are probably better athletes than even Dee Milliner and Dee played a lot in his first year after early enrolling and having to learn to play corner

You're right. My bad. But the rest of the 2009 guys still make my point.

I just don't see many of these guys from this class playing significant minutes.

It's not a bad thing either. We all want a class on par with the 2008 group, but we don't need them like we did then.

I don't know if they will, but I think a lot should.

C-Rob, Dom Jackson, Hand, Miller, Elam*, Marlon, TB, Hootie

Hand will be hard to keep off the field

CRob will be another Fluker. We all expected Fluker to take over for Andre and it didn't happen.

Jackson will start somewhere along the line. He played RG this year at JUCO.

Hand will more than likely play, but who do you play him over? A'Shawn? Allen? He'll be situational.

Miller knows he needs a RS. He only weighs 205 pounds.

Elam doesn't have the stamina to play much at all.

Marlon got beat by marginal D-1 prospects during the MS/AL game. He needs coaching before he is ready.

TB is probably the guy that plays the most out of the high school players from this class. However, he has a shoulder issue to overcome.

Hootie needs coaching too before he is ready. I certainly wouldn't want him to play a big role on defense. He's nowhere near as good as Collins and he hardly played his Freshman year.

Disagree. CRob is a lot closer to Andre coming out of HS than DJ

But I agree that there won't be many in the 2 deep but there will be a handful and probably a couple who contribute significantly. Just difficult to predict who

Hey, DJ was the best rookie OT this year.

Yeah he won't start, but he'll play a lot. We rotate often so he'll see a lot of snaps.

If he's only 205 you're right, I thought he was 220. Count him out then.

True, but our NGs usually surrender some snaps to another, so he doesn't have to start but could be in that rotation.

True, and needs to bulk up, but I think if he comes in and has a good camp it'll be hard to keep him off the field for long. Granted I think EJ/TB or Cyrus Jones will be the starters, but Marlon may be able to find a way onto the field. He may not as well.

Good points.

GOAT

Very possible. LINK I still think the 1992 defensive backfield was the greatest ever, and the front seven was pretty damn good, too.

I thought so too initially. He may be a LT whereas Fluker was a RT, but he's not ready to play right away.

Hell, Andre isn't a LT either. He's a damn good RT in the NFL though.

Harris and Menzie are on rosters too, both signed futures deals within the last month. Harris is a Bronco, Menzie a Panther. Magilla a Guerilla.

You wanna weigh in on this class' potential for next year? I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle here.

I saw that, but in theory they aren't on rosters right now.

Or I guess they are.

I'll edit.

thats a pretty small sample size of one exhibition game. you dont account for the fact that the defensive scheme was new to him and very limited by the rules of the exhibition. plus they probably didnt watch any tape and MH probably wasnt very motivated for that game. He played great all season for Hoover. He's got a real shot to play next season if he comes to Bama. It's not like we have any starters penned in for CB next season.

He wasn't challenged at all during his Senior year. Teams were too afraid to throw his way which hampered his development.

When he was challenged he underperformed. It was noticeable during the UA practices as well. He's still elite, but he needs seasoning. He's just not ready.

I think we will be okay with Eddie Jackson, Mo Smith and Sylve. Pettway will add to the pass rush which will ease our CBs coverage times.

From the Auburn 247 site regarding Evans:

quote:

From what we've been told, the Auburn staff still is concerned about Alabama and UCLA -- probably more Bama of the two. The Tide apparently gave him a lot to think about during last weekend's official visit to Tuscaloosa. We've heard his head is spinning a little right now.
