Andrew Bone ?@AndrewJBone 6m
If #Alabama receives a commitment from Marlon Humphrey or Rashaan Evans by signing day the Tide will finish with 10% of the #RIvals100.

If we get Elam and Humphrey (and both seem increasingly likely) we will have a 5 star OT, a 5 star DE, 2 5 star CBs, and a 5 star NT (at least by 247). Plus high 4 stars at almost every other position of need and the outside shot at an additional 5 star olb. That's pretty bad arse

And if Cornwell hadn't gotten hurt I've gotta believe he'd be a five star QB right now.

Sorry if this has been discussed before and I understand that Elam is a 5 star on 247 and it is prefectly normal for some recruiting sites to rate guys lower than others, but why is he so low on the other sites like rivals compared to 247??

I think probably stubbornness and a reluctance to reevaluate. Elam is a very rare player

Agree, i just cant believe the difference. most of the time you see 5 stars on one site as 4 stars on another or 4 stars on one site looked at as 3 stars on another. But this is a situation where he is looked at as a 5 star rare talent, and i agree that i think he is a must get and some site look at him as an normal D-line recruit!

I don't think Rivals has released they're updated 250 yet. Though he's not in the top 100, he could still be a 4 star and in the 250. Won't know til they release it.

Quote from Rashaan Evans' father

quote:

"I'm sure Auburn will throw everything they've got at Rashaan and they won't make this an easy decision by any means. We're excited to talk to their coaches and see where we stand then."

I hate to get my hopes up, but that sounds like they're leaning towards Alabama at the moment doesn't it?

Article also said that we're pitching him on Sam LB and Auburn is pitching him on "star" which is their hybrid safety/LB position.

They said the spot that can give him the best chance at NFL success down the road will carry a lot of weight on the decision.

The last time I checked, there are 32 teams in the nfl deploying a sam linebacker in their defense and very few deploying a LB/safety hybrid, that is basically only a college football position. I think we're in better shape here than the aubies would like to believe

Evans and Miller both at Sam would be a great battle, though I imagine both would eventually see the field together anyway since that pass rush would be too fricking deadly not to utilize.

If Evans is to used on the NFL he will open more doors by playing a speed rushing linebacker than by playing some roving safety deal. Here he could stop the run, blitz, edge rush, and cover guys.

Yep. Something both Miller and Evans appear to be good at. They can rush, they can cover, it's gonna be fun if we land Evans to pair with Miller. Then guys like Hand and Allen at End, A'Shawn maybe sliding to Nose to give us a more athletic option, Reuben blitzing from his Will LB spot...

That's exactly what he would do at Star. The Star position how Therezie played it isn't how Johnson likes to use it. Essentially, with Rashaan there, he would basically be a roaming outside linebacker

Late in the process and such a low profile guy that we probably don't have room for, but an in state guy and we don't seem to have a Fullback after Fowler moves on.
