Well according bamaonline. Orgeron wanted the job but didn't impress Saban. Chris Wilson of Georgia is considered a long shot. Hobby of Clemson, Roach of South Alabama, Haley of LSU, Davis of USC and Rocker are the likely candidate now. They believe Hobby and Roach are most likely.

If it's down to Hobby and Freddie Roach, give me Roach. What he lacks in experience he may make up for in recruiting prowess and energy.

Plus he's worked under Saban before. He's a Bama guy. Hobby is from Birmingham, but played at Tennessee.

Nick Saban: I'm the guy they took college coaches off the road in the spring for. Let's change that. Why is that a rule?

I found a potential gem while browsing through different 247 team sites (I'm bored). This comes to you courtesy of Noles247:

quote:

Alabama is the team to beat for five-star cornerback Marlon Humphrey, with Florida State as the only legitimate challenger. Humphrey’s best relationship is with FSU defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, and the Seminoles will get him on campus for his official this weekend. In-state Alabama hosts Humphrey the following weekend.

Breaking: Per @TimWatts_BOL of @BamaOnline247, barring unforeseen circumstances, Bo Davis to be next #Alabama DL coach

I asked in the other thread, but didn't he just become USCw DL coach?

He had better development than Rumph seemed to have

Kinda surprised if that's the hire but it still is pretty solid

He's an lsu grad from Mississippi. Bolsters recruiting in both states. He pulled the kid from st. Aug to Texas.

I didn't have a problem with Davis when he was here but was kind of hoping for Freddie Roach.

Who knows what's true, but when Bo left Bama a couple years ago the word was that he was effectively fired like is being said about Rumph and Nuss now.

The same one that didn't have committable offers from LSU or Alabama? Nice pull.

ETA: Not directing that you, just kinda disappointed with this hire.

This is the main thing I am thinking of. Would have liked a more aggressive hire, but Davis produced solid development when he was here.
