Brown is my boy now. Our connection with both having to take care of our dad's during high school after they were paralyzed in strokes has been long established now.

Heck of a pickup by you guys. I like Tabor a lot. Wouldn't mind getting Tabor if we don't get Hump. Tabor looked way better than Hump during the UA week.

Maybe you guys will flip Jamal Adams. This progress has to turn his head a little and Joker is his fam.

Hate to show my ignorance, but what happens during an OV? Meaning, are we allowed to put the recruits through skills tests or "practices" to see what they can do or is it strictly a "this is how great our program/campus/town is" visit?

Isn't Tabor best friends with the youngest Haden? The one who was supposedly going to Arizona? Don't be surprised to see him "earn" a Florida offer now.

From what I've heard its similar to regular Orientation at Alabama.

Kids have a meeting, Saban gives a speech. And yes he made an appearance at my Orientation session in Late Summer 2007.

They meet with on campus Academic advisers at the college(s) of their choice on campus.

Then it changes to an all out party.

They eat Chuck's. They go to parties. They spend time with the current players. They spend time at Saban's (warm weather visits involve Jet skis at his house). They eat breakfast on Sunday morning at Saban's.

Hump is no longer committing February 1. Needs more time for OV. I'm guessing that with our OV scheduled January 24, unless that changes Free Shoes will probably get the last visit.

Seems the the Tabor/Brown spot (DB early enrollee) was interchangeable. Any other times you can distinctly remember us having a definite spot come down that close to just two guys?

Well, let that put to rest any thought that he's a "silent lock" to us. Or to them as well, I suppose, for those few crazy Noles fans who thought he committed to them during Pruitt's in house visit last year.

Thanks Liberty. Is it against NCAA rules to have them run skills tests or practice with the current players? I get the scouting reports/watching HS game tape, but there is a reason the NFL still has combines.

Note on 2015 5-star CB Minkah Fitzpatrick who we offered yesterday:

quote:

This (Alabama) is one of the major offers Minkah wanted.

South Carolina, Miami and Ohio State are the main competition early on in this recruitment.

quote:

He has family in the state and his grandmother actually lives in Wetumpka.

quote:

Distance from home should not be a factor when it comes to Fitzpatrick, who has family that reside in Alabama.

“I actually have family in Alabama and that is one of the reasons that I am really looking at Alabama. My grandmother lives in Wetumpka and my uncle lives in Montgomery. So I would still be close to family if I went there.”

Kiffin is interviewing for the job:

quote:

Lane Kiffin has a career record of 35-21 as coach of Tennessee and USC. (USATSI)Former Southern California head coach Lane Kiffin is interviewing for the Alabama offensive coordinator job as early as Thursday, according to a source.

Kiffin will visit Tuscaloosa for the interview but won't be alone in the running for the job. A long list of NFL suitors should be involved for a coveted job to replace Doug Nussmeier, who is now Michigan's offensive coordinator.

The 38-year-old Kiffin, who went a combined 35-21 as coach of Tennessee and USC, visited Alabama during bowl prep as a consultant/observer.

Kiffin runs a pro-style offense, which fits with Saban's style of ball control and a physical running game. But Saban has said recently that he's open to upping the tempo to adapt to attack defenses.

Alabama would be a stable landing strip for the embattled Kiffin, who has already held three major head-coaching jobs. One of Kiffin's former employers, Tennessee, plays host to the Crimson Tide on Oct. 25.

Keith Holcombe says that he appreciates everything Nussmeier did as his lead recruiter, but he is going to the school that is best for him regardless of who recruited him.

I know he was never a threat to leave, but this kid is going to get a nice bump in the final rankings due to his performance in the AL-MS game.

He would be a great fit in that he does run an offense similar to what Saban prefers. He also would fill a nice role on the staff as a recruiter.

Now, his previous actions at UT and USCw are what is not going to mesh very well with our philosophy.

I guess if Saban can keep him muzzled and on the straight and narrow, then I don't have a problem with him being hired.

Chris Walsh from BOL posted this regarding USC's offense in 2005 when Lane was the OC under Carroll:

quote:

While the offensive coordinator in 2005, USC's offense was in the national Top 6 in every statistical category, including tops in total offense (579.8) and second in scoring offense (49.1), and set Pac-10 records for total offense yardage, first downs, points scored, touchdowns and PATs. The Trojans scored 50 points a school-record 7 times. USC became the first school to have a 3,000-yard passer, a pair of 1,000-yard runners and a 1,000-yard receiver in a season.

How would Ricky Town feel about the Kiffin hire? I know he wasn't considering USC when Kiffin was there
