Yeah, I wouldn't put much thought into that if I were you.

I think the loophole is that the recruits had to sign aid agreement before Dec. 1 and enroll early.

Here's a link that explains it. LINK
quote:

13.9.1 Letter of Intent – Limitation. Each SEC member institution is limited to signing 25 football prospective student-athletes to a National Letter of Intent, Conference financial aid agreement and/or institutional offer of athletics financial aid from December 1 through May 31st of each year. [Adopted 5/29/09; effective immediately; revised 6/3/11; effective August 1, 2011]

quote:

Tennessee had a flood of players sign aid agreements last month — perhaps a half-dozen players or more. Why is this significant? By the letter of the law, those players wouldn’t count against the SEC’s signing limit. They’re freebies, if you will.

And I must have missed this... 2015 Alabama commitment, Saftey/WR Deionte Thompson LINK.

quote:

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Top100 junior Deionte Thompson is committed to Alabama to play safety, but on Friday at the U.S. Army National Combine inside the Alamo Dome, the Orange (Texas) West Orange-Stark showed he’s a major talent at receiver as well.

I got downvoted for saying Deionte could flip.

The kid is a childhood Texas fan who felt jilted by Mack for not recruiting him early. Charlie Strong is there now and that doesn't bode well for us.

I posted it when I was soliciting Saints' fans last week. It may have gotten lost in the shuffle.

Speaking of which, who has decided to jump on the Saints' bandwagon as they take on the dirty Seachickens this Saturday afternoon?

I've seen a few CBs for RB Jeff Jones to Michigan today. What's the deal there?

ETA: There was also a pick for him to Michigan State yesterday and a few to Florida this weekend.

Yeah, the thought crossed my mind. I bet Strong was on the phone with him right after he became the Texas coach.

Tues morning update on the SEC Rb:

Madmaxvol on UT's loophole:

quote:

Nope. The loophole is blue-shirting. If players aren't officially recruited and don't take official visits to the school, they can blue-shirt and count towards the following year (2015) class. Officially, 6 EEs count towards UT's 2013 class, 8 count towards the 2014 class. If UT can "blue-shirt" the Berry twins, they can remain at the 25 yearly allotment.

I'm assuming going by that DJ Pettway (maybe Reed also but not sure) might qualify for the "Blue Shirt"

Also LSU fans are still butthurt as hell about Cam Sims...so a COMPLETELY SEPARATE incident involving a shooting happened at a bar AFTER Sims family had a party for his graduation. Sims was IN NO WAY implied and an idiot LSU poster still came and linked the article with of course "Cam Sims party" and said "they got too wild" in the OP
