Which was my whole point. Anyone but a Free Shoes poster would see Pruitt was poor to form when he left. He could have easily kept his mouth shut for a year/said nothing publicly about Alabama/went to recruiting 14/15 guys nothing would have been a problem. I don't understand their personal views on burning bridges especially with Saban and Alabama.

Seeing as how Orgeron has USC winning, is the job his?

He's a great recruiter but I think with him in charge for the long term we could really start to poach that elite West Coast talent.

Well he came in recruited and played the emotional game an interim coach does at Ole Miss and it didn't work out for him. He couldn't even get above Shula.

He's gonna do enough to remain on the staff, but I would think they'd shoot higher for a HC. Even if he goes undefeated on out, this is a perfect storm that they can't miss on.

USC is ready to return, they just need the right coach...

But who? Since I've moved to Idaho and the firing of Kiffin, the big discussion is that Petersen is high on their list. He's not a big recruiter, or personality for that matter.

I know Del Rio wants the job, but he probably won't get the offer.

Who do they go after?

I love Peterson he came to Saban's 08 or 09 Coaching Clinic. Probably the quietest guy to ever speak at a Saban clinic. When you go to enough clinics and such you tend to pick up the patterns of certain guys. Peterson much like myself is a football nerd, and Saban is as well which is rare for a former DB. Most football nerds are offensive guys but Saban brings the intellectual curiosity to defensive football that I think makes him one of the greats.

Someone high profile, whether it be college or pro.

You can take the Jim Mora route, surround him with good recruiters and let him settle in. In that situation, I'd pursue Jeff Fisher. USC man, and it's probably gonna get worse for him with no Bradford at St. Louis. Keep O, snatch up pro coaches he needs, and fill the rest out with college coaches with appropriate recruiting ties.

Or you can go try for Sark at UW. It's not exactly greatness for the Huskies right now, but they have a good offense and have some good recruiters on staff. Imagine Coach O and Tosh Lupoi somehow on the same recruiting team, they'd be unstoppable.

You'd think they'd go after another NFL coach given the success of Carroll. Maybe Gruden?

I'm greedy.

Wish we could retain Bo as a defensive player and get Roc and LF as RBs.

That would be so awesome. Roc is a really great back and like you said greed to keep him from taking snaps for the Barnyard Commandos would a great motivational factor for his recruitment. But not so much him but the last group of Oxford guys what happened with them exactly? I know from the start of a recruits active period until they sign on the dotted line things/perception change quickly but I've never seen an actual group of recruits from the same class from the same school have their profile fall to the level those guys did. The only one comparable recently would be EJ Moss and that was just one guy.

I agree. I wish that there was a way to make room for him. I really don't want Auburn to have him.

ROC would be 7th on our depth chart next year whereas Fournette would be 4th.

No thanks on Thomas.

Carroll fared pretty well, considering the standard Saban set had not happened yet.

Kiffin was just a bad hire that they didn't want to believe. He was all recruiter, very limited as leader and strategist.

Gruden would be good, you just got to pry him from his desk job he loves. He makes easy money without the strain of a HC job.

And by the sad admission of their fanbases they would be 1 and 1A if they went to AU/LSU together.

You think Chip Kelly would take the USC job?

Petrino set the precedent of a good college coach abandoning the NFL after one season.
