I guess it’s too much to expect a bunch of college kids to limit themselves and gather in large groups too much. They want to live the college life.

Anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together knew it would spread easily and quickly through college campuses. Everyone also knows that the mortality risk to an 18-23-year-old is almost zero. The only real danger is to local at-risk people who interact with the college population. Anyone who invites college students back to campus and then panics and shuts everything down once cases start appearing among them is a complete moron.

I saw a report that he had, but I’m trying to find verification. I’m sorry, I might have jumped the gun

Yeah I am seeing random people saying he has died so it will come out pretty soon if he has. Just infuriating to think about it.

Which we have been told repeatedly become completely ineffective when you are in close contact with large gatherings where people speak or sing loudly. That has been the sole basis for banning church gatherings. Even masks won't protect them if they sit shoulder to shoulder and sing.

Did they wear masks? If so, NO PROBLEM. Literally NONE of the guidance says to NOT gather. Just wear a mask if gathering. What the hell is so hard about this, guys?

This is 100% false.

Gavin Newsom has threatened jail for people holding church services, masks or not.

Bill Deblasio has threatened jail and closure of synagogues if Orthodox Jews have funerals.

I just found out in the last week that a COVID 19 app was installed on our phones. It says that is there to inform you if you may have been exposed but that means it can also track you as well. It supposedly can alert you if you are near someone that has tested positive by exchanging data between the phones.

What happens if they had a false negative. This sounds like a possible witch hunt. I see it now walking through Walmart and phones start going about a nearby shopper. The default option is in the off mode, at least on Iphones

A lot of people are upset about this, but your phone already tracks every move you make, everything you say, and every person you contact. Sadly I've accepted that the price I pay for choosing to carry my mobile information device is that my entire life will be collected and analyzed by my government.

Yep. If you carry a phone every step you take is traceable within a few feet. It's kind of silly to be worried about a covid app when google, apple and Bejing already knows where you buy your weed and how many times a week you visit your side piece.

I understand that in regards to our phones as they are a record of everything we do. My concern more though is it exchanges information with other phones within your vicinity. The purpose of the app not only tracks but creates basically a open access port. Which also means the app is granting access to other users near you.

If you think someone will not try and exploit that maybe you are right but people for years have already found ways to clone(hack) your phone and now there is an app that may make even easier.

Another concern is that apps on the phone, even one like this, have never giving a government entity direct access to your phone and your movements. Yes companies like Facebook and other apps that we give permission to do track you but for the government to obtain this information it required access to be granted through the courts. Just saying.

I'm sure most here already know this, but just in case anyone has never looked, or don't believe your phone is already tracking your location (assuming you haven't turned it off):

Android
Open the Google Maps app
Click your face/account settings
Click "Your Timeline"

iOS
Click "Settings"
Scroll down and click "Privacy"
Click "Location Services"
Scroll down and click "System Services"
Scroll down and click "Significant Locations"

If you guys have about an hour to burn, there is a video on YouTube by the ABC station in Seattle, KOMO, titled Seattle is Dying. This is where multiple Democrat (Dims) led cities are headed.

Seattle is Dying - KOMO

Here's another one from same guy covering several west coast cities.

It got derailed regarding allowing politics having something to do with the virus. Bringing any political thing here is a little too much.

Politics has a lot to do with the virus and the reporting around the virus. I'm not sure how you have a discussion of the virus without politics. You do

So sorority rush and mail in voting are ok, but my post was out of line?

Thought some actual unbiased reporting of the situation in certain cities that appear to be falling apart might be of interest. Seems at least as connected to the virus as sorority rush. But you two carry on with your mod duties.

This thread was originally not for politics. So yes it was derailed and so TideSaint let politics back in. You didn’t read what I said. I said bringing ANY political stuff (that’s not related to the virus) in here is too much.

The virus response has directly affected the sorority rush (at Alabama which this is the board for) and voting. There’s a political board if you want to discuss politics not mainly related to the virus.

I think the issue is the videos you posted have little to do with the virus, nor the political response to it. The Seattle one first aired in March of 2019, almost a year before the virus was first confirmed here. Sorority rush is a current event that has been impacted by the virus.

I honestly don't care. Threads get derailed all the time and those derailments can sometimes lead to good discussion and debate. Just giving some insight on why some may complain about it.

That isn’t how they are supposed to work. The phone doesn’t talk to another phone. The Bluetooth radio transmits a key. Other phones log the date, time, and duration of the keys they hear and upload it to a server in the cloud. If a phone owner self reports as positive, that cloud server sends a message to those in the database.

It isn’t phones saying hey frank, this is John are you feeling ok? It is a phone walking around saying my name is Frank all day long and John telling Apple some guy named Frank sat beside me on the subway today.

More info to reveal what people do all day? Sure, but not really a way into your device.
