Is it red flags or is it us making assumptions.

I have heard from different fans of the teams involved that his dad is crazy. Someone tagged me in a post the other day on twitter telling me that, and apparently Jeffries dad searched his name and found it bc he liked the post lol

It won’t last long. Sexton will start once they feel he’s NBA ready (he’s almost there now)

People have been giving Sexton shite for getting his "ankles broken" by Ish Smith in their last game. I initially thought "well that happens to all defenders playing tight defense." I then watched it and was wondering what the Hell the fuss was about. It was a good dribble move and Sexton was turned, but he still was able to recover and contest the shot. It was really good defense which was trumped by good offense.

I wouldn't call it really good defense, but it wasn't bad defense either.

I'd say it is very similar situation to Iverson's crossover of Jordan.

Similar to the Iverson/Jordan crossover, Jordan mildly contested the shot

I wouldn't expect you would

I'd rewatch the clip. Sexton had a hand in his face before he even began the release. Hell, at around 37 seconds in that video, it looks like Smith's forearm may have even hit Sexton's hand on the follow through.

Not sure why not. Plenty of Bama players I like. I have no problem acknowledging Sexton is a good player + I like/love his antics (Pitino comments, invisible teammate high fives, Greg Jennings team on his back)

but... I'm sorry, but if the defender gets turned around it just can't be good defense almost by definition

It isn't bad defense because most players can't make that crossover to get him turned around

That's only because of the shot forced by the clock. In normal gameplay, Smith would have gone deeper into the corner or straight to the rim, which Sexton had no chance of being in position to contest

That still doesn't make it a mildly contested shot. Plus the only reason he ever got turned in the first place was because of how late in the shot clock it was...

We didn't have anyone that could come close to guarding Auburn's point guard last season. He ate us a live in Tuscaloosa. Over and over, he would penetrate, pass to the right corner, one more pass and wide open 3. There is a difference in quick feet and fast. You need quick feet to play defense.

BOL been trying to get an update for a week on Jeffries but they can’t get in touch with his dad. They keep missing each other apparently. This doesn’t surprise me. No one says anything good about his dad

2018-19 Alabama basketball season thread has been created. I’ve updated the roster by removing Landon Fuller and adding Tyler Barnes. Also updated the heights and weights and added upcoming events LINK

I kinda feel like if Timme didn’t commit on his visit, we aren’t landing him. Hopefully I’m wrong on that.

What kids with crazy AF parents during recruiting has ended up being a success other than Landon Collins?

BOL update on Drew Timme:

-He said he heard it was nice before he went there, but he got to see how nice it was in person.
-He hung out with Avery Jr, Reese, and Kira. They showed him around.
-He said Avery knows what it takes to get him to the NBA.
-Timme, his mom and dad, were all impressed by the visit and direction of the program.
-Avery is looking forward to transitioning more towards “position-less basketball” and told Timme he can be the centerpiece.
-Avery told him he could use Timme like he used Dirk Nowitzki in the NBA for mismatches and stuff.
-Timme said he grew up watching Avery and the Mavs
-He said the Alabama game was crazy on Saturday and he got to see Dixieland Delight which was cool to him
-Timme spent time with Saban and asked him about his meeting with Kobe Bryant and how that went.
-“Just how good of a fit it is and how good of a place it is. It was my first time seeing it and it was a really good first impression and first impressions really do mean a lot”
-“I took an official there (Bama), so I wouldn’t go there if I wasn’t serious about them”
-No leader yet. Plans to sign next month.
-Timme said our staff is great. Said they’re funny guys that you’d want to hang out with off the court.
-He loves the staffs intensity in practice. He said “I feed off that. I like that. That’s kind of how I play with a chip on my shoulder. I appreciate that.”
