Edit: IGNORE THIS. It wasn’t about Alabama basketball. It was about the whole Nike/Kap situation

I sent FOIA requests to about 15 relevant schools. Alabama said there were no records . A couple others wanted $$ (looking at you Clemson and Va Tech). Some haven’t yet responded.

Get Sexton for $5k.
Looks like it was more than $5k

Dan Wetzel @DanWetzel
Among revelations in court this afternoon, documents suggesting Christian Dawkins paid $5,000 to Collin Sexton and another calling for $1,500 per month to Sexton, $21,000 for travel for his family and a four year job for his brother ($35,000 per year, with $5,000 annual raise).

Brian Bowen Sr. told the jury today that Christian Dawkins conveyed the following offers for Brian Bowen Jr. to commit:
• Arizona: $50,000
• Oklahoma State: $150,000, $8000 for a car, money for a house
• Texas: “help me with housing”
• Creighton: $100,000 and a “good job”
Goodness. This is embarrassing for the NCAA.

Bowen wasnt even that great was he.

He was a 5* recruit, but he wasn't quite on Sexton's level, which kind of concerns me. If teams were offering 6 figures for Bowen I don't believe for a second that $5k got us Sexton.

Bowen never even played in college. He was ok in high school. Not on Sexton’s level tho

Yea...i know a recent five star that we uhhh played the game with. It was a Grant recruit but we played for sure.

As I posted above, it appears significantly more.
If you include the salary from his brothers "job" ($170k over 4 years) the benefits end up well north of $200k

This is underselling him, he was legit and a top 10-15 caliber player
I'd imagine Bowens high value though was probably due to him spending more than one year in school
If he is in school for 2-4 years, his cost spread per year looks much better

Is that really an impermissible benefit? If so, how the Hell did Mizzou get away with hiring the Porter brothers dad?

Bruh. The Memphis reporters were saying Drake and Justin Timberlake were gonna be at Memphis’ tip-off event tonight. Neither of them showed up. They asked Penny Hardaway about it afterwards and he said he never even tried to get Drake, but he contacted JT and couldn’t get him. So they straight up lied to the fans to get them to attend......not a good way to get the fans on your side

That's their job. The NCAA is essentially just the fall guy for the schools. By design, it really has very little control over the schools.

There have to be tons of dudes trying to explain to their dates why the JT concert was actually just a bunch of 3 stars in a dunk contest.

If it's a legit job paying a legit wage for the work being done I don't think it's actually impermissible. I'd bet that most of these "jobs" are of the no-show variety though. Mama gets on the payroll at Booster's car dealership making $50k as a receptionist, but no one else who works there could tell you her name or what she looks like.

It’s just ridiculous that they did that so that they could sellout an 18k arena. It worked too. I bet maybe 5k would’ve showed up, at most 10k had JT sand Drake never been mentioned

I hope people booed at the end. Did they even have like a C tier rapper?
Posted on 10/4/18 at 11:37 pm to TomRollTideRitter
I don’t listen to rap a whole lot, but I’m pretty sure the rappers they got were pretty well known. They got Yo Gotti, Moneybagg Yo and Blocboy JB.

Because Porter's dad could be argued as a legitimate hire on his own merit. He has P5 NCAA coaching experience
The NCAA views jobs for family members as a benefit unless it is entirely unrelated to the player. I mean, otherwise, Jimmy YellaFella Rane would start handing out "house sitting" jobs left and right for Auburn.

Dude, stop. He coached at Washington for one year in order for them to secure MPJ, and then by Mizzou for the same reason. He is the associate HC of a P5 school making more than Pettway makes (even after his recent 65k raise) with little to no success as a low assistant coach. If that can be a legitimate 300k per year hire, I'm sure they can make Jordan Sexton's 35k job look legitimate.
