Greg Gantt just committed to Providence. We recruited him a little but we seemed to back off

Time to start figuring out how we tank our way through this schedule

Assuming Kira Lewis reclassifies and is our starting PG, here’s how I see the season playing out for the non-conference portion:

Nov 6 - Southern -W
Nov 11 - Appalachian State -W
Nov 15 - Northeastern (Charleston, SC)- W
Nov 16 - Virginia Tech/Ball State (Charleston, SC) -L
Nov 18 - Purdue/Witchita State/Davidson/Appalachian State -Not sure, I’ll say W
Nov 26 - Murray State W
Nov 29 - @UCF L
Dec 4 - Georgia State W
Dec 9 - Arizona W
Dec 18 - Liberty (Huntsville, AL) W
Dec 21 - Penn State W
Dec 30 - @Stephen F. Austin L
Jan 26 - @Baylor L

9-4

Win the first two. Lose a low 50s game against Northeastern followed by a loss to Virginia Tech who got stunned by Ball State. We end the tournament beating App State again.

Lose to Murray and lose to UCF in another low 50s type of game. We rebound by beating Georgia State, Arizona, and Liberty, and fans think the team has found something. Then Penn State beats us in a heartbreaker, and S.F. Austin boat races us.

6-6 heading into conference play

This is similar to what I'd actually predict.

The sad thing is I caught myself nodding reading this assessment thinking it’s not too unlikely.

Man yall are a bunch of Negative Nancys. We return everyone but Sexton and Key(who was gonna be coming off the bench) and add Mack, 3 good recruits, and possibly Lewis. We were 4-0 without Collin last year against 4 pretty good teams.

I think we are gonna be really good this year.

I’m not being negative with my post. 9-4 isn’t terrible. We just usually struggle to find a rotation early in the season and never really get going until after non-conference play. I’d be happy with 9-4

Plus I’m kind of 50/50 on the Baylor game. If it was home, I’d pick us. But they’re decent and it’s an away game, so I just gave the nod to them as of now

I think 9-4 is the safe bet. Anything from 8-5 to 10-3 is likely, with one of those losses being a complete WTF game to a mediocre team that follows a game where we look really smooth and like we're going to be a top team in the SEC

I feel like that @UCF game is gonna be miserable. They already beat us at our place last year, and all the knowledgeable basketball guys are saying this year they’re actually supposed to be good. Combine that with them hyping up playing Alabama (bc of the whole football deal) and us playing flat against unranked, no-name teams like that, I expect a loss

I’ve looked at it a few times and I’m not sure I see a loss.

Maybe you guys should get your eyes checked.

@UCF has a feeling of the @UGA game last year. Really depends if Mack and Petty shoot cold.

Any idea why? Dude can ball and is the definition of a team leader and can step up and take over as expected. And he can put on a show if you've seen a Carver game. Dude is a scorer

Maybe there is something off court causing it?

I know nothing about the kid, but that usually is why a kid w talent gets dropped. Anything from grades to personality

I don’t even think our staff is watching Jaykwon anymore. They’ve been watching Kira, Trendon, CJ Walker, Drew Timme, Samuell Williamson, Juwan Gary, and I think that’s it for the most part. I don’t think we’re recruiting Diante Smith at all. That was a very weird situation. He decommits, I heard one of our coaches (either Ya or Pett) unfollowed him on twitter immediately, and then we stop communicating with him. Then Diante keeps making the comments about “if Alabama still wants me” then he’ll keep them on his list. Just very, very weird

Anyone know who we’re gonna play in the exhibition? Pitt State tagged Bama on twitter wanting to play in October, but I haven’t heard anything about it

Tevin Mack scored 36 points today in the South Carolina Pro-Am. Also had 9 rebounds.

Shot 14-29 overall and 4-13 from 3
