Losing this guy to anybody on this list outside of Indiana is unacceptable.

If he loses Kira and Trendon, he better make up for it with some serious results. I’m talking 25+ win seasons or something lol. Bc being a bubble team and losing 15-16 games every year (along with losing top in-state recruits) ain’t gonna cut it at Alabama.

You're exactly right. We need to continually raise the standard.

It seems inevitable that Memphis will get busted for cheating under Penny, and their staff will come out saying the NCAA is evil.

Jerry Meyer CB’d Watford to Memphis and he’s usually right smh

I'd been holding out hope that since we still had Jerry's CB, we were still the leader because of how accurate he is. Man, I'm going to melt if/when we lose out on Trendon. That's just unacceptable.

It's exactly why I'd be more upset with our staff for losing out on Watford to Indiana than Memphis. With how quickly Watford's gone from a long-time Indiana/Alabama battle to a rumored Memphis silent commit, it just screams money has changed hands if true. That's without even considering who's on their staff.

Once again though, I still think this is overblown. Meyer is a great talent evaluator, but Memphis is a safe pick for now for Watford, because if he commits soon it'll likely be to the place he just visited and is just recently being speculated to be recruiting for.

If you actually look at the quote, it's really not that definitive.

quote:

Q: You hear about guys who like to try and recruit a bit out here, is there anybody trying to do that with you?

A: Trendon (Watford) is, he’s talking about Memphis, Alex (Lomax) too, there’s different guys.

It could be that he really is a silent commit that's recruiting people to Memphis, but it's just as likely if not more likely that he was talking about his recent Memphis visit and talking about a school they had mutual interest in. It's not the greatest news in the world, but it's far from what it's being made out to be.

Kira to Kentucky wouldn't bother me nearly as much as Trendon to Memphis. There has to be something shady going on if he is the lock that some say he is. Not sure why I let myself get so invested in Bama Bball

How the frick did things change so quickly with Watford?? I was 99% sure Bama with 1% Indiana...how the frick did Memphis get involved and take the lead so quick?? They gotta be paying.

How do we get the REC involved in basketball? Asking for a friend.

There is some slightly good news with Watford tho. I didn’t hear this with my own ears, but 2 different people heard this yesterday (and maybe some of u did?). Apparently there was some livestream on Instagram or something with Trendon and some of our players. Our guys were telling the viewers to roast Trendon and Trendon said something like “If you roast me I’m taking back my silent”. Then the video ended. By “silent”, idk what else he could’ve meant but being a silent commit to Bama. Maybe they were just trolling? Idk. But I haven’t lost all hope with Trendon yet

That's the danger with chasing stars, you can lose them to blue dogs or a cheating program.

I never cared for Avery's comment about recruiting like Saban, that's not realistic nor practical. Want to see how to recruit? Look at Michigan. Belein deliberately goes after undersized guys who are great at fundamental bball. He found some scrawny German, redshirted him and we saw the results. Wisconsin got some unknown by the name of Kaminsky b/c they bothered to look at his parents' heights and realized he was due for a massive growth spurt.

Oh nice, the telephone game. Where banana is now watermelon.

Hopefully, he chooses bama. Probably just wishful thinking now.

For all I know TW could announce tomorrow for Memphis, but I still think we will win out. The Memphis angle doesn’t make sense to me. Their coach played in the NBA. So did ours. Difference is Avery actually has coaching experience. Seems like a huge risk to play for a rookie coach. Too many unknowns.

Wagner was a low four star on 247, so while he's certainly developed better than most would've predicted, he wasn't a nobody. Belein has proven to be a great coach, but I don't take much stock in their run this past season.

Montana
Houston who they should've lost to
A&M
Florida State
Loyola

We could've made that run.

There’s a Murray State fan on twitter who’s saying they’ll play at Alabama this year (also will play at Auburn). Idk how true that is, but that would probably be a good opponent. They went 26-6 last year, won their conference, and lost to West Virginia in the NCAA tournament

Here we go. Murray State WILL play at Alabama. Cecil Hurt just retweeted this. LINK

quote:

As @nealbradley broke on his show today, Murray State MBB will play at Alabama this year as their "money game". Matt McMahon said they're still working on the date, and added that no other non-conference games have been added since we talked last month.

Murray will beat our arse if we're not careful. That's a good ball team.

Regarding Memphis and Trendon, I have no knowledge of where he's going, but I do know you'd be a damn fool to be cheating in this environment when the NCAA just got fricking embarrassed by the FBI case and it ain't over yet. You know they HAVE to look tough on any violations they find or they might just get replaced by another governing body. I wouldn't do anything shady right now because the NCAA has got to be looking to make a splash at someone's expense.
