I just don't see how it won't get proven. His brother made it look even more shady by deleting his tweets. The FBI may not get more involved, but you can expect the NCAA to be all over this. I pretty much consider Sexton gone at this point.

He probably just got sick of people replying to them with the news. We'll see what happens.

The only thing that gives me some hope about Sexton staying eligible is that it doesn't make much sense why Baker wouldn't have been charged if Sexton's dad received money. What else would be the difference between Baker and Persons?

I bet Bama compliance told him to shut up and delete.

Yeah that's what someone told me. They said Baker would've been arrested immediately if he had paid Sexton's dad bc that would be the same thing as Person. Him not being arrested is a good sign

My hope with our press release and what Cecil's report says, if Baker admitted that he gave Sexton's dad money, we wouldn't have released our statement like it was written.

This plus if the Feds had more info than what was shown on the affidavit. He would have been arrested with the other coaches. Perhaps, they haven't built a case yet. Folks will be singing to get reduced time.

I mean Kobie could have told Sexton "Hey let's go to lunch I want you to meet some folks." or it could have been "Hey, I know how you could make some quick $$"

ETA: New timeline below.

Apparently Kobie Baker was an NCAA enforcement officer before he was hired at Alabama?

Matt Zenitz already said Staff member 1 is Baker

After reading the affidavit. It makes sense from Bama Compliance point of view that this is one possible scenario:

1.) UA Comp Dept. confirmed that Staff Member 1 = Kobie.
2.) Reached out to Sexton Family for info. Sexton family said nothing happened.
3.) Forces Kobie to resign
4.) Release statement saying: Our review has not identified any NCAA or SEC rules violations nor the involvement of any other coach or staff member. We have notified both of the governing bodies of the actions we have taken. As always, we will continue to be proactive in our compliance efforts.”
5.) Plausible Deniability

Of course the wildcard is if the Feds have find any more shite in the future or someone talks. Even then, Bama can say we took the appropriate actions as soon as we found out. What else do you want us to do? What else can we do?

ETA: I mean being caught is being caught. At this point it's damage control.

Per the timeline.

1.) "On or around May 3rd", Kobie takes $5K and asked if he is willing to take bribes. (But why is the date not confirmed? Feds say sometime around. Doesn't sound like they are certain.)

2.) July 24th, Michel was given $10K to give to Kobie to direct players. No confirmation on if that money was given to Kobie.

3.) "On or around August 31st", Michel was given another $10K to give to Kobie in Atlanta Restaurant where Sexton's father was at. (Once again another approximate date but it was supposedly video taped.)

Michel claimed that he was given $49K from Informant to cover travel , and to bribe folks. He proceeded to give $20K of that to Kobie. Is there a missing $5K (above money adds to $25K) or did Michel give him an additional 20K on top of the above cash. Section 57 reads a bit wonky?

For those saying the NCAA will be all over this, under normal circumstances yes. But these are far from normal. Where do they start and with whom? There are bigger and worse fish to fry, at least at this juncture. And this thing is still unfolding. If this gets as bad as I think it might, we will be a very minor case.

Yea, who knows.

For Bama, I think Kobie would be arrested if the Feds have inconclusive evidence. They don't even have exact dates and the entire timeline revolves around money being given to Michel to give to Kobie. Person was listed as receiving. Nothing in the affidavit said Kobie received the money.

Michel got his arse beat by Dominque Wilkens @ a Hawks game and sued both the Hawks ownership group & Wilkens for "suffered physical and emotional pain and public humiliation"

It blows my mind that people making over $100k a year are willing to throw it all away for a few grand.

People keep viewing this post FBI involvement. To understand why people would do this you got to realize

1- No one thought this was illegal (honestly it is some legal gymnastics)

2- No one ever got caught doing this, NCAA couldn't catch people

3- $10-20k in cash is closer to $30k gross if you don't report it as taxes. For someone like Kobi that is a huge "raise"

FWIW, Sexton's sister and the @collinyoungbull account have been tweeting all morning saying things like "Collin is clean", "Y'all will see", "No worries", "He didn't take a red cent", "He came to Bama bc he wanted to learn from Avery" and a ton of other stuff. I'm pretty sure they'd stay quiet if he really took money. We'll see.

On or around seems to be common language in stuff like this in case you are slightly off in your rememberance of things. They probably have thousands of documents and thousands of hours of video and audio and this gives them a slight out if they are off by a day or a couple of hours.

Sounds to me like Kobe got paid to try to influence Sexton. As long as he didn't use money as the influence, we're good, right? RIGHT!?

If we get hammered for this I'm going to burn down the NCAA. EVERYBODY has known forever that college basketball is dirty as hell.

His brother and sister aren't his dad. I doubt Cam's dad told Cams brother about taking money for example

Also it is in their interest to claim him eligible so doesn't matter what they say
