It's been a weird college basketball season for me and I haven't really watched much. Haven't watched any Mizzou. Anyone have a quick scouting report? I know Cuonzo is a defensive minded coach.
It's the best type of Cuonzo team. A bunch of veteran tough guys, a very good center and a really good point guard.
They play faster than past years, too. Not Oats speed or anything, but they aren't looking to win 57-54.
Missouri Tempo Rank - Cuonzo Martin
2018 - #296
2019 - #318
2020 - #267
2021 - #107

It does not feel like we've beaten Miz 7 of the last 9.
11-5 overall.
6-1 at home. Yep, I saw that loss It was ugly.

If anything was holding me back from the Kenpom subscription, you just erased it from my memory. That’s a whole lot of good info and I wasn’t giving the site enough credit. Only problem now is that basketball season is winding down.

Bama basketball PTSD. We all have it.

Hell I would be worried about that 1/16 or 2/15 game.
Last time we were a 2 seed we almost lost

Some quick thoughts from Kenpom’s Game Prep:
Missouri gets to the FT line a lot. Need to limit fouls on defense, which has been as issue at times.
Neither team has a distinct advantage in rebounding, so if either team can pick up some extra offensive boards, it could be a key to the game.
We’ve played 7 games against teams with better defensive efficiency than Missouri. We’re 5-2 in those games (losses to OU and Clemson). We shot well in most of the wins (@ UT, @ UK, Ole Miss, Arkansas) and struggled against UK when we didn’t. Need a few guys to find their stroke in Columbia.
Bama is statistically better on both sides of the ball, so if we can play to our statistical averages, we should be in good shape. Higher tempo obviously favors us, so expect them to try to limit possessions and opportunities.
Missouri is a very experienced team. #5 in the country with an average of 2.5 yrs. IMO, that gives them an advantage at home if it’s a close game. It would be nice to have a cushion under 4 minutes.
We get blocked. A lot. Fortunately, that’s not a strength for the Tigers. Hopefully that means we can be successful finishing at the rim.
TLDR: Protect the ball, limit TO’s and fouls, win the 50/50 balls and steal some offensive rebounds, and take advantage of opportunities early to avoid a late run. Basically, play good basketball.

Petty hitting his first shot from deep would be great. We need the glazed over look in his eyes to return. When he looks high/dead inside, it’s going to be a night where he drops those Petty F U 3s

I definitely don’t think we can afford Herb with four again three minutes into the 2nd half.

Anyone else super nervous for tomorrow?
I know the SEC won’t be clinched tomorrow but this is basically the championship in a way. Easily the top 2 teams in the league and if we can beat them, we’ll extend our lead over them and we’ll have the tiebreaker. I don’t see anyone but maybe Auburn giving us a REAL challenge the rest of the way....we’d have to lose multiple games to lose this SEC title and I just don’t see it happening

At least Herb looked healthier vs LSU. After sitting most of that game he should be pretty good for tomorrow hopefully.
Pretty crazy that he got 8 rebounds vs LSU in just 16 minutes of playing time.

I’m really not. If we can Not get bitched out by Tilmon I think we win easily. Herb looked a little better vs LSU so I think he will be a little better for this one. Hopefully Rojas is back 100% to give us some more Girth inside against Tilmon

Drunk as shite tonight in Huntsville. Game is going to come down to the last 4 minutes where we dominate. Quinerly is going to follow up with another great game, and Primo is going to go the frick off.

Would it not be the most Alabama Basketball thing ever for us to get to the NCAAT as a one seed then have to miss it because we had a covid outbreak on the team?

I'm not too nervous about tomorrow even though I think it will be a close game.
The most nervous I have been for an SEC game this year was the first game vs LSU.

When you think about it, Herb has only gotten 10-12 minutes of extra rest from the last game. Is it going to help that much? Don’t guys really need a day or two away to really get better?
