Rewatching some of the tape from the last few games, the periods during which we play consistently good ball are for whatever reason when Quinerly and Gary are on the floor at the same time. Hope to see more of that.

Yep. They have great chemistry for one, and JQ has just been money in the postseason. Gary is just a great garbage man kind of player. He's always around the ball getting offensive rebounds and putbacks.

We could definitely play Gary and Herb as the two bigs against Maryland.

Maryland has no rim protection. JQ could get layups all game

I haven't been super impressed with Cole or Bouknight today. And that's bad news for UCONN, because they just have a bunch of rebounders up front.

Same - they kind of seem like wild guards who get hot and cold.

I almost pulled the trigger on picking that upset.

Yea, they don't have a STRETCH 5 so the paint is clogged up! The two guards can't get going

I can't pick these games for shite because I literally have barely seen either team play, but if you just took a cursory look at Maryland's rosters and numbers you'd see:

1) they have a shite ton of 6-5, 6'6 guards
2) they have good team defense numbers
3) one of those 6'6 guards (Morsell) was the Big 10 Defensive player of the year

So you could see how they might be able to put the clamps on a team that gets its scoring from a couple guards.

It might also mean that they could give our guards some problems.

Obviously they are the coaches and I’m not for a reason, but I have no idea why Gary doesn’t play a lot more minutes. Seems like he’s always doing the right thing...good at rebounding, putbacks, and more than athletic enough to switch screens and hang with guards.

He hit an open corner 3 in the first half.

Galin had a wide open layup and couldn’t catch the pas

Also explains how incredibly mediocre they were in a conference full of great bigs.
