Each year we see less and less of this, Press Virginia has pretty much given up on it as well

Yep - I mean that's how (I assume) we all grew up playing ball. Pressing, beating the press, having to physically bring the ball up through contact and traps.

It sucks that it is basically extinct. I miss that way more than 16 footers and boring entry passes to the post.

The way we played, everything was contested. You played the same way. I never took a shot, that I didn’t get hit

Yep - and part of being a great point was ability to control tempo and pressure with your ability to break physicality and push through it. Being "weak with the ball" was a death sentence. That phrase barely even exists now.

Physicality is not a thing that even exists in basketball outside of rebounding anymore. It's just not part of the game

I had a guy named Rod Rutledge that would tell you, (come down the lane and see what happens). That was fricking practice!!!! Rod played tight end at Bama and went to the NFL The guy was nice, but would kill you

I mean the 1980s Bill Lambier NBA isn't what anybody wants, but that's very different from the 90s run and gun press stuff that we are talking about.

George, this didn’t exist and you know it. We went head first knowing that it wasn’t going to end well. You just hoped that you weren’t fuzzy enough to miss free throws. I know folks will think that I’m playing, but getting your “bell rung” was just part of the dy

Sucks that the Big 10 games and the SEC games are on at the same times in the early afternoon. Would be smart and better for ratings is they had two on in the afternoon and two at night but I guess that's too much to ask for.

Alabama Tennessee - noon
Michigan Ohio State - noon

Arkansas LSU - 2 (really probably 230)
Iowa Illinois - 230

I played on the all-black AAU town in town (as the only white kid). Our practices were fvckin wars. Everything was with pace, full court, punishment > an easy look at the rim.

It was the best 2 years I ever had to toughen my lily arse up.

I was a defensive rat who couldn't shoot so naturally my name was "scrap" (other colorful adjectives attached at times as well )

Oh I remember Rod Rutledge as a football player. I can't imagine the terror he caused giving a hard foul on a fast break layup attempt.

How are we thinking the lineups and rotations change without Primo?

He was huge, but lean in high school. 6’4 or 6’5 and 235. Great guy and I was friends with him....,,...... he’d light his mom up in the lane. His brother’s name was Wallace. Played at UAB. Big guy as well..... this was when UAB was just starting, so there were a bunch of guys playing. I caught a “button hook” in a game at Center Point ballpark. I caught the ball, and all I saw was darkness... I turned and ran harder than I’ve ever run in my life and a “safety” bumped me into the fence. I was scared to death
