I'm hopeful it is bad predictions, his offer is legit, and teams have been negatively recruiting against us big time as well.

Larry Brown has to be in his mid 70s by now and the longest he has ever kept any of his 15 head coaching jobs is like 5 years. Unless his grandson is on SMU's team or something, there's a better than 50% chance that he retires or takes a new job in the next couple of years. If our staff isn't stressing that to Lee then they need to be.

Agreed

I saw on twitter that Noah Dickerson will be visiting tomorrow. Kid is a beast. I think he played AAU with Coleman and Mitchell.

“It was pretty good. I liked it,” Lee said. “I got to meet with all the people, the players, the coaching staff, the AD and the president. I just chilled with the players and watched practice and all that.

“My favorite part about the visit was probably listening to Allen Iverson talk to the team,” Lee said. “He was telling us about how he didn’t know why Coach (Larry) Brown was pushing him (when he was a player) but now he sees why he was pushing him, to be the best he could be. He said just to listen to him and don’t take it personal. It’s just business.”

“I really like Coach Brown,” Lee said. “He’s a Hall of Fame coach. He’s coached and won championships in the NBA. He’s coached on the college level, and he’s coached the USA Olympic team as well. Coach Brown is the main reason why SMU is in my top five.”

“Coach Brown just told me he needed me at SMU,” 6-foot-9 205-pound big man said. “He said I’m not going to just walk in there and be the man. I’m going to have to work for my position and earn my spot.

“I would love to play for Coach Brown but at the end of the day, I have to make the choice that’s right for me. I’m just looking for a school that can push me to be the best I can be so I can get to the next level.”

“Emmanuel and I had a short conversation,” Lee said. “We talked about Coach Brown and how he has connections and how he can show me how to get to the next level. He told me he wants to play with me and to go ahead and commit to SMU. I think it would be great to play with him.”

Along with SMU, Lee has Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi State and UAB on his short list. Lee plans on visiting Alabama this weekend and making his decision soon after. Lee has already been to Tuscaloosa in the past and says he ‘knows how everything is’ but just wants to get a second look.

In the end, the decision will ultimately be up to Lee, who averaged 19.6 points, 17.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 15.5 blocks per game last season. And in his heart, he’s pretty sure he already knows which school he’ll be signing with next month.

“I think I have my decision made up, but I’m not sure,” Lee said. “I’m not leaning toward anybody in particular. I just think I know where I want to go.”

Bamamag said Norris is also taking his official this weekend. They said Coleman and Mitchell should be there as well.

Was just at the preseason BBQ. Probably the most encouraging sign was how great of shape the players are in. Jacobs was noticeably thinner. Grant said he's dropped 25-30 lbs. Releford looked like he had burned some fat as well.

Always nice to see players in shape, but Jacobs needed badly. He was very slow and looked like he was gasping for air last year. Hopefully all that hard work keeps me from going into a rage watching him play defense this year.

Dan changed his pick to UGA and the latest prediction for 247's crystal ball is a vote for Bama.

I didn't get there in time for the practice, but I don't believe he did. Grant said they don't really know how long he'll be out, but they hope he'll be back sooner rather than later. He said it could be two weeks, or it could be four weeks. When the injury occurred, it really scared them. They're just relieved he's not having to have surgery.

Don't get too excited. He just means it's about time for his visit.

Just saw this from 3 days ago. Take it FWIW. LINK

quote:

While I was in Montgomery this weekend, I had the opportunity to talk to a lot of people about 2014 Dallas County (Ala.) PF William Lee.

Lee is down to Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi State, SMU, and UAB, but I have come to the conclusion that this is a two team race between the Dawgs and Mustangs.

SMU has made a strong push despite coming on late in the process, and I am told by a source that his official visit to Dallas over the weekend was a success. From what I have heard, Larry Brown had Allen Iverson on campus for the visit, too. SMU offers Lee the ability to come in and play right away, along with a style that fits his play. The only thing that doesn’t necessarily fit is proximity to home (if he is looking for that). For now, I have my Crystal Ball favoring the Mustangs.

FWIW: Talked to a college coach that is not involved with Lee and he believes SMU “is in great shape right now.”

Georgia has been the leader for Lee for a long time, and head coach Mark Fox and assistant Phillip Pearson have done an outstanding job recruiting him. They have made him the top target for awhile, as they stalked him during the evaluation periods. Multiple sources did indicate to me they think the four-star forward will end up at UGA, but they did admit that was before SMU came on strong. Georgia

Many people are on the Alabama boat, but I think with Jimmie Taylor and other post players on-board right now, it has certainly hurt the Tide. I will also note that in March, Lee told me he wasn’t thrilled with staying in-state to play his college ball.

For right now, I’m favoring SMU, but I think Georgia will have the last say.
