On top of obviously beating UT, we need NC State to beat Virginia, Oklahoma State to beat Baylor, Oklahoma to beat Iowa State, Richmond/St. Louis to beat Charlotte, and George Washington/Temple to beat UMASS. That'd be a good start for us.
I'm just gonna copy this to the top of the next page. Middle Tennessee just lost in their semifinals. They couldn't potentially now steal a bid, but most bracketologists I've seen don't think they will.
ETA: Lunardi has MTSU as the 2nd team out. He has us all the way at the 6th team out.

Don't get your hopes up, we won't get in without at least two wins next week

All Palm said is that we 'could' potentially swap places with Tennessee if we beat them. They're barely in his field right now though, and with upsets in conference tournaments and other bubble teams going on runs and winning two or three games, they likely wouldn't be in anyway.

Once again, I still don't think its likely. Before I saw that tweet, I saw a 0% chance of it happening even with a UT win, and after maybe a 10% chance at best. I'm certainly not going to feel confident going into the selection show without a win over UF, but its nice to know going in that we at least have a half-court prayer shot of making it in if we beat UT. After the VCU/USC choices 2 years ago, I won't be in complete astonishment of any of these current "bubble" teams make it, no matter what happens. Both those teams weren't on most people's bubble list going into the selection show.

This is what Glockner said about Alabama
@AndyGlockner: @Bryant91092 @bracketexpert They need to make the final at minimum.

And Bird, Palm is probably just trolling trying to get some Alabama fans' hopes up because that dude seems to have always had Bama issues.

Kentucky is up to #50 in the RPI now. We have a top 50 win at least

Noel fricking his knee up probably hurt us as much as it hurt them. If he hadn't gone down I think they'd be somewhere in the 30s right now. They had really started to get it on track when he got hurt.

Yea they were starting to play much better. We've been fortunate the last two times we've played them at home to catch them early on. Two years ago our win over them looked really good because they turned into a Final 4 team even though they weren't that great when we played them, and this year they were on track to do the same (maybe not Final 4, but they were playing much better).

I think Villanova was also up to 50 at one point but fell back down.
So stupid to have an arbitrary cutoff point in an idiotic formula mean so much, especially when teams are so close

Couldn't agree more. The RPI is bad enough by itself, but when you start analyzing records agains the top-whatever using the RPI it's even worse.

ST. Louis beating Dayton in the Atlantic-10 Championship would be awesome for us. Dayton sits at a 109 RPI and they would have to beat both VCU and Butler to get there. That scenario would get rid of another 100+ RPI loss.

That would help, I don't think we can rely on too much help like that though this late in the game. By Saturday or Sunday the committee typically has it's teams set, obviously with exceptions of conference title games yet to take place. You hear them talk about it every year how the field doesn't change much in the last 24 hours or so. I certainly doubt they'd go back and rexamine our resume vs somebody else's by the time Dayton wouldn't be a "bad loss" anymore and take that into account. Sadly, we've gotten ourselves into a spot where we just have to win and not rely on any help or any committee decision.

Take out the Auburn debacle and 2 of the 3 losses to Dayton, Mercer, and Tulane and we are in right now. Its what I have come to expect under Grant though. If they don't feel like playing they will lose to literally anyone. Doesn't matter how terrible the other team is.
Posted on 3/11/13 at 11:16 am to Robot Santa
When you're as bad on offense as we are, you will always, always, always have a couple of very bad losses on your resume. The problem is we don't have any real quality wins to offset it.

Easily. If we win two of the following games we're probably in, three and we're absolutely in:
Mercer
Tulane
Dayton
@Auburn
@LSU (10 point lead with 3 minutes left)
@Tennessee (led all day, as many as 7 with just a few left if I remember correctly)
That's what is so frustrating. It's us shitting the bed against lesser teams (or shitting the bed and not playing the last few minutes of a game) that will keep us out, just like it did two years ago.

Posted this on the Rant, but I figured I might post it here as well:
It's going to be tough in the SEC next year, but at least we should have a better team and a much higher SOS.
quote:
Top teams for Next Season:
Tier One:
UK- Should return a couple players from last year's class and adds arguably the best recruiting class in history next year, and they aren't finished with it yet.
UF- Probably bringing back everyone except Boynton, Murphy, and Rosario, and adding Kasey Hill and Chris Walker...both beasts. Plus Billy D is the best coach in the SEC
Tier 2:
UT- Returns everyone from this year's team except McBee and Hall (neither big hits) and adds Maymon and Hubbs to the mix.
Bama- Returns everyone except Steele, and adds Engstrom, Hale, and Taylor to rid us of our post depth problem.
Arkansas- Returns everyone, and adds two very solid posts to the mix, Portis and Kingsley
LSU- Returns pretty much everyone but the Tuba, and adds an exceptional class.
Tier 3:
Mizzou- Loses Bell, Bowers, and Oriakhi, all huge hits, but returns everyone else and adds a pretty solid class.
Don't know much about everyone else, but those should be the top teams. I'm sure some Mizzou fans will jump all over me, but you can't just replace Oriakhi and Bowers with not 1 single player who averaged more than 10 minutes down low.
It's going to be tough in the SEC next year, but at least we should have a better team and a much higher SOS.
